Trev Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 I ended up putting my ecu into his and it did the same thing (FARK) so we swapped his back in, I ended up just doing a diagnostic and ECU reset on his and the problem went away. Do a reset and see what happens, use number 2 in 'my personal addition' http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Series:A/Model/AE80/82/4age_Diagnostic_System To this day I am still stumped as to why mine did the same thing but ran fine in mine, I doubt that resetting the ecu resets the toyota sensors aswell. I've unplugged the ECU from the loom completely so its sitting in my foot well waiting for me to moltov it 2 different ecu's, one from my car working perfectly but replicated the same thing, just plug it back in and do the negative terminal. nz_83_dx Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 So when idling it will rev high low high low high low. Is your TPS calibrated correctly? I had the same problem with the idle on my 4age. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Ok so it seems all she needed was to reset the ECU. I unplugged it while I redone all the dodgy as wiring. Put my blue LED's in while the dash was out. And mounted the thermo switch inside the car. Just need to wind my idle down a bit. And hook the engine light back up. Thanks to Trev for his valuable input. Oh I reversed the terminals on my voltmeter so it actually works now. Edited January 14, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote

mhmills Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 The switch you wired up the thermos to, was that there from factory? Reason I ask is my AE71 has the exact same button. It has a picture for fog lights, however my car didn't fog lights but had wiring in the front for some... Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 Nah its just a random switch I mounted Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) There is still a problem. Went fine then started doing the gay rev thing again. Might be the MAP sensor as it smooths out if disconnected. I wanna do a diagnostic but can't find the points to bridge. Over it. Edited January 14, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
glenpos Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 hey amn, nice rolla, my gze hunts at idle also, i changed where the tps was and it fixed it for a few minutes but then i drove it out of the shed and it started doing it again grrr lol Quote

Evan G Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 he wasn't drunk! he was just exhausted from staying up all night drinking Quote
mrduke Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I'd say double check for vac leaks, spray some aerostart around manifold and see if it's sucking air anywhere. If it's a cut and shut like mine it could be cracked around the welds. I also had to take the breather between rocker cover and manifold off cause when they modded the fwd manifold it is open and is a massive air leak, caused mine to idle really high. Luckily apart from the first motor i put in havin dodgy rings mines been ok. just had oil leaks. dizzy still leakin, can't get a seal locally. I've got a spare computer, map sensor and coil/ignitor if ya get really stuck. Shame i'm too far away to help. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Trev just walked me through it (I'm sober ) so I think we nailed it. I'd wired it up like an idiot. Powered a wire that shouldnt of been. Seems good now. Just need to up the idle a bit. What a learning experience! Edited January 14, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 15, 2012 Author Report Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) Now it wont run under load, getting a code 11. Coughing and spluttering and starts jerking all over when I try to drive. Edited January 15, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
mhmills Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) I dub this car: FEMALE! Have you tried buying her flowers and scented candles, and offered to rub her feet? I thought I was the only person who gets this many problems with a car... Edited January 15, 2012 by mhmills Quote
