ke70dave Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 ahh a rotary hater... even the 1.6 would be very fun. can't be very safe though with the open top, i think id want a roll bar at the least. perhaps we are getting off topic... Quote
7shades Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Once you go Rotary, you never go rotary ever, ever again. Not even once. Not even if you paid me. Quote
corolla_bitten Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 it states in that info that it is the only horizontally opposed engine with rear wheel drive in the world,................. they must not recognise porsche as a car... Quote
altezzaclub Posted December 2, 2011 Author Report Posted December 2, 2011 As far as I know the motor is straight out of the Subaru factory, so Subby do the mechanicas and Toyota do the body. So... will it turbo like the WRX from the Impreza? Quote
towe001 Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 I like it. <snipe> I'll be buying one. :poke: And this is from the man that hates boxer motors Quote
towe001 Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Getting back to it. I won't be getting one, its a toyota which'll mean it'll be an over-priced bucket of bland metal. And i'll still have the same thoughts cause it'll have been thrashed by its drifto want-a-be owner. Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Meh, I'm going to get one when it's a year old... not worth the new asking price but should be the most fun offered up by Toyota in a long time! Quote
carbonboy Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) I'm seriously thinking about buying a ~1990 MX5......with a small modification to the gearbox input shaft...a rotary bolts to their gearbox. The most fun you can have for 5k drive away... Piss the rotary off though you'll spend more time fixing the thing An MX5 with a 13B PP has been on my dream list for a long time now, however since 'reliability', 'fuel economy' & 'rotary engine' never go positively together in the same sentence, it will remain on the dream list I'm afraid. :( If there's one that comes out looking like the one in 7shades posted photo, I'd seriously contemplate acquiring one! it states in that info that it is the only horizontally opposed engine with rear wheel drive in the world,................. they must not recognise porsche as a car... Maybe they meant 'only front engined, rear drive car with a horizontally opposed engine in the world'? :) Now that Toyota has shown signs of a pulse again, time to bring back the Supra to combat the Neesan GTR. Edited December 3, 2011 by carbonboy Quote
7shades Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Neee-sarn has been sitting patiently on S16 concepts for a while now... You'd better believe they'll be watching this one very closely Quote
Oh-KE Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Sounds like fun but it does look pretty ugly especially from behind.. id tap my wagon over this anyday Quote
Redwarf Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Getting back to it. I won't be getting one, its a toyota which'll mean it'll be an over-priced bucket of bland metal. Amen Brother! Quote

Seeing as you boys require a history lesson. Back when the Dwarf was a lad, the 1930 Tatra T54 had a flat four and rear drive, as did the 1937 Jowett Ten. Not an new idea then. :P Quote
