Well,

No I don't :rolls: Thanks to my mate from work who is a ca18det guru, we put the complete engines on a engine stand, I went for a pee break and came back to see he had pretty much stripped it all. :laff:

Anyway,

Some pictures,I didn't get to take a picture of them as "complete" engines, so heres what I got. Let me tell anyone who has never bought a second hand engine before to have no expectations. I bought these two engines as "running" but for a price of one engine that would suit a rebuild (at current market price rates) now they have spun bearings, stuffed valves, one block is probably going to need to use oversized pistons due to the boring that will be needed etc. Luckily, I had planned to do a ground up rebuild and take the best usable parts from both and turning into one.

Well,

I may as well chuck up a update...

Engine got sent to RE Power on Friday,

Am hoping to buy a new 999 automotive high mount manifold off a mate as I hope he is going to go 6boost, and maybe a to4e if he upgrades. I was planning to just run a fairly stock ca18 but I may as well just go all out I guess... Not sure if I will go down the forged pistons etc route or just wait and see what stock will handle, need to start looking at upgrading brakes etc as well.

I wouldnt see anyone else but Garry at Re power now, he has looked after my old man for the last 15 odd years. Really knows his stuff, and very reasonably priced. What is your budget on this thing anyway Dave?

Posted (edited)

No budget really...

Would be nice to have it all wired in + tune for under 7.5grand though.

At the moment, fromn selling the 5k + other old rolla stuff I've broke even.

I still need a gearbox and heaps of other things. (I'm replacing water pumps etc etc so it will all add up quick)

I decided to do it right the first go, so not really worried about when it gets done, by September for Powercruise would be great but will see what happens.
