19914afc Posted July 7, 2012 Report Posted July 7, 2012 (edited) T series, and axle bearings are easy if you have acess to a press, I did mine on both my diffs. Edited July 7, 2012 by 19914afc Quote

kickn5k Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) TAILSHAFT IS THE WRONG ONE!!!! It's always the little things that bite you on engine conversions!! Master cylinder reservoir to manifold clearance was my main drama with the FJ in dads 1600!! Can you not just change the rear flange over for the time being? You'd probably need it rebalanced though(around $80). I'm very much enjoying the speed these(Willis, it'sADMyo, dvr11k and yourself) 4A conversions are going at. It's like a little battle to see who gets the next update up!! Keep up the good work!!! Edited July 8, 2012 by kickn5k Quote

It's like a little battle to see who gets the next update up!! Keep up the good work!!! Changing the rear flange was my first thought, but the universal joints are different sizes between the two tailshafts that I have. Then my next thought was to get the tailshafts cut and swapped, ie make 1 useable one out of the two I have, but I was quoted at $220 to have that done. Which I really didn't want to pay considering I can get a T series for cheaper than that (hopefully). I'll be getting stuck into this car again when I get back to Byron, I think I'll have the engine running in a couple of days. Then I'll sort out the tailshaft. Quote
kickn5k Posted July 8, 2012 Report Posted July 8, 2012 You might be able to make up a uni to get you by, use two of the other sized caps on one of the unis if the bearing shaft is the same size on both. That's how we used to get 9" ford diffs in holdens back in the olden days. Quote
rian Posted July 8, 2012 Author Report Posted July 8, 2012 Hmm, I'll have to have a looks at it and see what I can do. Thanks for the tip. Quote
Willis Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 I'm very much enjoying the speed these(Willis, it'sADMyo, dvr11k and yourself) 4A conversions are going at. It's like a little battle to see who gets the next update up!! Keep up the good work!!! It's Rian or Leo in the lead. DBR's car is worth the wait and I'm just kinda mechanically retarded so need alot of help. Which means time haha. I'm loving all of the builds though, so ʞ©$ɟing keen to hit QR with the KE70 convoy!! dbr11k Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 It definitely keeps the motivation up seeing everyone else getting into it, that's what's kept me going so far.. the way things have been lately I don't think mine will be done until November, which is fine with me anyways because I won't have my licence back until then.. rian Posted July 9, 2012 Author Report Posted July 9, 2012 Lol, the no-license club is up in 'ere! Quote
