SLOTH Snr Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 G'day guys and girls. I haven't been on lately as I've been trying to get the cars finished for christmas. I've finally sorted the smoking problem with the Mercedes and cured the auto problem at the same time. It seems the vacuum modulator on the auto was stuffed and was sucking the trans fluid straight up into the manifold. Now thats fixed it gets new injectors and hopefully i will have 220KW of power again. Craigs Rolla now has a bright chrome engine bay fire engine red extractors, blue under car neons, blue chercker plate instument panel, blue neons in the instument panel and blue washer neons that flash with the indicators. The 7k block and crank are back from the engineers, so its about to be painted and the bottom end assembled. The heads weren't ready yet. Hope to get them early in the week, if so it may just be ready for the Bar-b que Well thats about it, stay safe and keep on rollin Bill Quote
kangaroosa Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 You have been a very busy man. Now hurry up and get the 7K finished and back in its home. I hanging out for you take me around the block in the rocket. :y: Quote
rjenman Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 This 7K corolla thing is an interesting idea, I've been pondering doing one instead of the 5K They're quite a hefty K engine Quote
SLOTH Snr Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 Yeah! We're hoping for 130hp plus and around 150ft/lb of torque. don't know what they are in metric but it should boogie  I'm going to try and convince Craig to take it to Geelong motorsports place and have a bit of a go in thier events. Let it howl in anger Quote
SLOTH Snr Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 Instrument panel Extactors Engine bay Quote
Tiger Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 The instrument panel came up a DAMN GOOD TRICK! This is coming up nice! All you need is airbrushed a Dallas Cowboys theme on the car and it'd be :y: :D hehehe Quote
SLOTH Snr Posted December 17, 2005 Author Report Posted December 17, 2005 I like the Dallas idea. Maybe the number 22 in silver if we ever race it. Quote
Super Jamie Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 awesome, good to see you guys back into it  did you just paint the engine bay with cans? let us know how that goes, after say a few months or whatever, as far as paint quality and finish goes. i've heard conflicting stories about engine bays not sprayed with a gun, but have never bothered to try it myself Quote
Tiger Posted December 17, 2005 Report Posted December 17, 2005 I like the Dallas idea.Maybe the number 22 in silver if we ever race it. That, and perhaps the star that they have on their helmets too! :y: Now you're thinking! hehehe  Quote
SLOTH Snr Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Posted December 18, 2005 (edited) Yeah! I just cleaned it as best I could washed it with prepsol and used cans. Anything was better than how it looked. I'm not holding my breath on it lasting. After I took the pic of inst panel I put a rubber edging around it. A blue led in a chrome holder for hi beam and 2 yellow led's for indicators. 5 blue lit rocker switches where the radio had been for the neons in and under the car. I will try to get a pic during the week. Edited December 18, 2005 by SLOTH Snr Quote
rjenman Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 Those red extractors are well wicked! It almost looks like its glowing red hot hehe What brand/kind of paint did you use? Quote
kangaroosa Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 Red Extractors = HOT!! Why don't I see your Twin SU's in place? I need to see these undercar neons at night. Thats one form of Automotive lighting that I actually like. Top Work though. You really have been busy! Quote
Super Jamie Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 no paint ever stays on extractors  stupid exhaust heat Quote
Fayt Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 I'm gonna have my extractors covered in heatproof seramic coatings, so they stay silver all their life, instead of grotty black and brown colour  Quote
rjenman Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 no paint ever stays on extractors  stupid exhaust heat actually i think you're wrong man There's the high temp resistant engine paint that you use on blocks, thats good, but not good enough for the blistering heat of an exhaust. There is ALSO a kind of paint DESIGNED for pot belly stoves and exhausts that resists 500 degrees celcius plus. I have only seen it in grey and black though. I don't remember seeing it in any interesting colours, thats why I'm interested to know if he's used the uber heat resistant stuff that comes in bright red! my current idea is to have black exhaust and blue block to suit my car Quote
