Raven Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 No matter what, my car has a decent car alarm fitted. I think a lot of you guys with these older cars should get a 3-stage immobiliser fitted at least to stop this type of thing happening. You're lucky you got it back in one piece and it wasnt torched. The best type of insurance for someone who can't afford insurance is an immobiliser, up from that, a full alarm system with tilt-sensor, glass break sensor and microwave sensor. Even a flashing light will deter most thieves from even contemplating opening the door or smashing a window as they don't know whats fitted to the car to begin with. Quote
19914afc Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 ye, that will stop a small timer but if they really want the car that won't stop them they would just tow it or just don't care about it, are there any alarms too that will keep going even if the battery is disconnected? Quote
Crowie55 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 are there any alarms too that will keep going even if the battery is disconnected? Yes there are, you can also get alarms that send an alert to your key chain that vibrates and rings like a mobile phone. Very handy bit of gear. Quote

All insurance approved alarm need to be black wired, 3 point imobilser and battery back up(siren operates even when batt disconnected). Raven's car with glass break and tilt sensors will cause the alarm to go stupid if they try to put it on a tilt tray etc. My mates did even when someone tried to steal it tilt tray to tilt tray. But still not sure if it was that scared them off, the alarm or the 20+ guys that came running out of the house when it went off.lol. Good to hear you got the car back. Stu. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Any KE1X can be stolen with 1 paper clipa nd a steel ruller thats from door unlocked to car running in minutes. So if Iever drive my KE15 anywhere I pull rotor button out the dizzy. Wont start then if they keep trying the flood it. Wont stop them towing it but a "broken down" car isnt tempting to most theifs also.. Cameron Quote
dbr11k Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 my car is fitted with an alarm that has 'microwave sensors' so as soon as someone touches the car it goes off.. also goes off when windows get smashed.. wish i had that set the night 5 of my windows got smashed.. wouldnt have stopped them from being smashed but i woulda been outside chasing the little pricks down for the floggin of their lives. dbr11k Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 the microwave one gets pretty annoying but, thats why i had it turned off.. even when a car with a deep note drove past her the alarm would go off. Quote
