Hey guys the missus is in need of a car to get around in with the kids. It needed to be roomy, automatic, air con, and relatively cheap. As it so happens an mx83 cressida grande has popped up for 2000 with a roadworthy. Its clean, runs well, auto, and of course its a toyota. I have never owned a cressida so don't know what to look out for and whether it is a good buy? It also has towing capabilities which would be handy. Any help would be great. Cheers brendan

Service history would be first thing, a mate had one and it was really good til he ran it without oil for a while :S

As with most cars if its been well looked after it will be a good car, look for signs of abuse/neglect (weird sounds, car isn't clean, general things like that), check if it due for major service any time soon as I believe they aren't cheap.

Good luck

from what i have seen car is in pretty good shape. the front seats have a bit of wear and tear as any elderly car would. the rest of the interior is pretty clean. body is straight and paint is good. drives and handles really smooth. just had roadworthy done by the bloke i use, and he is pretty strict on safety. just drove past and noticed the car wasnt there so see how we go =(

People will tell you the 7mge engine blows headgaskets like hell. But that's all down to toyota producing the wrong torque specs from the factory.

If it blows, Just torque it down to whats on the gasket kit and you'll be fine.

But mx83's are a pretty nice car, same dash as a ma70 and supra driveline underneath just in a family car.
