:P Think i need to buy a new socket haha

I'm new here so still reading lots about my car and plenty of stuff to learn

Great site, so much good info and people willing to help out fellow corolla owners :y:

I got my first Ke70 a couple weeks ago, well first roadworthy one :P

Just been working on a bit of rust around fuel filler, boot rubber lip etc and decided ill knock it all back from behind the back doors back, bit of clear coat that someones painted on there flaking off so might as well fix it all up

Anyway went to pop out the vent on the rear pillar, andd nooo not so easy.. pulled out the plastic panel inside and the seats, now what thee some long bolt sticking out with a tiny unreachable nut, can't get a spanner in there, Long type size 10 socket wont get it... so my question is, how do these vents come out, seems like a lot of messing around for such a simple thing

yep long 8 mm,

or if you can grab it with a pair of fine noise pliers you might get it off, but really, long 8mm socket is the go.

i think they made the thread so long so you can actually have half a chance of getting the nuts back on haah

My thoughts would be yes. But can you get a pair of needle nose pliers in there ?

If you want to post some photos use the full editor and below the section where you write is a section for attachments. Use that for posting pictures, it tends to be a lot better then Image shack and the others.

I use a 1/4" drive set a lot, they're all just over 50mm long, 6 to 12mm I think it runs. Very handy in the garage, they're from my days repairing appliances. Probably just a few bucks, no tools with them, just the sockets & a 3/8th to 1/4th converter.
