Martin Ke30 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) Hello all, A mechanic at my work has offered to sell me a 32/36 webber at a reasonable price. I have searched around abit on the sight and the FAQ/Wiki on this sight under "Carburettor" say this: One of the easiest mods for these cars is to change the carby! A Weber 32/36 DGV is the most common aftermarket downdraft around. Usually you'll need to jet down a carburettor like this, unless someone has already done the work for you, or you have a fairly modified engine. For a 3K/4K, start at around: 130 mains 170 air jets 50 idle http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/K_Series/Carburettor I have already purchased the jets the wiki suggested and an adaptor plate for the 32/36 A few days later after reading that I came across the "how to build a tough K motor" wiki, it says A 32/36 DGV from a 2L Escort is too big, unless you can get one of the rare ones with small primary throats. The stock carb is 27/27 (or 27/32 on 4K onwards), so anything from there to 32mm, with primary chokes between 20mm and 25mm will probably go fairly well. http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/K_Series/How_to_build_a_tough_K_motor My question is, should I buy the webber and rejet it, or keep looking and find a smaller webber. I would prefer to buy the 32/36 because of the price, condition and the fact that i have purchased the jets already but if you think it will run like crap I wont bother. My engine is a completly stock 3k-c with the Dual plane, dual outlet style stock exhaust manifold Any help would be appreciated, or even a link to an existing thread you know of. Thanks Edited October 6, 2011 by Martin Ke30 Quote

Token Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Well, really mate, you'd be better off putting the money towards a set of extractors. The webber is a little big, I have one on my 4k, and it's lost alot of response below say 3.5k, but one you get up in the rev range, its sweet. That said, my 4k's got a cam and extractors etc. I get the feeling on a stock 3k you'd be running pig rich, hate it, and swap back to your stock carby pretty quick. Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Buy it cheap, sell it on here & use that money for a small Weber or SUs Quote

Has it been jetted to suit your application? Correctly tuning a carb WILL make a world of difference. We got a 32/36 running fine on a stock 3K. Not that much work. Quote
