JJT036 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 If you're spinning one of the rear wheels, and the other one goes the other way or stays still, it's an open-wheel / single-spinner diff. There's a technical name for it that I was taught a few months ago, but I've forgotten it. :) Keep up the good work. :y: Josh  Quote
dbr11k Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 but what does it mean if i spin one wheel and the other doesnt move at all? just the tail shaft.. and thanks mate hopefully she will be on the track soon its been to long Quote
JJT036 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Then it's a single-spinner. If it's just the wheel you're moving and the tailshaft, it's a single-spinner diff. :) Quote
dbr11k Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) ok thanks i wasnt sure, i don't have that problem anymore haha, i forgot i didnt put any oil in the diff today when i went for a quick blap down the road oops :lock_folder: Edited May 1, 2012 by dbr11k Quote
SLO-030 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Then it's a single-spinner. If it's just the wheel you're moving and the tailshaft, it's a single-spinner diff. :) Or a weldy with a broken axle... Edited May 1, 2012 by SLO-030 Quote

JJT036 Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Or a weldy with a broken axle... Could be this too. Looking at the provided video above, it does look like the problem. Try moving the other wheel and see what happens. :) Edited May 1, 2012 by JJT036 Quote
dbr11k Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 What ? No I've welded it up now, it was a standard centre and I attacked it with a mig welder... The axles were fine and the teeth on all the gears were in excellent condition... Quote
dbr11k Posted May 1, 2012 Author Report Posted May 1, 2012 I had the diff out, stripped down, welded up, New bearings installed and put back together in about 2 hours flat lol Quote
dbr11k Posted May 4, 2012 Author Report Posted May 4, 2012 Bled the brakes again today and took this for a lap in the paddock, had it sliding 3rd gear and was all good unroll the front brakes locked on again, had to crack the bleed nipples to get back to the shed because it was just spinning the rears, so I thought stuff it, brand New slotted/ cross drilles 280mm rotors, steel braided brake lines and willwood calipers are on their way. Also got hold of a sleeve kit for ae86 struts for cheap and I'm thinking about making a set of rear coilovers, just not sure if they will fit, anyone personally done this before? Quote
dbr11k Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 Fuel system is done, bit rough lookin but it does the job, have to pull it back out soon to paint the interior anyways.. my outer tie rods and steering knuckles showed up too, they are 20mm shorter than power steering knuckles and my god are they beefy !! 20mm thick. also seriously thinking about buying a 2way LSD for the t series diff.. just might have to save for a little while but lol. BlueKsev Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) You worked out what was causing that brake problem? Mine did the same sort of thing a while back, but it was the master cylinder being full of 30 year old grit and one of the pistons in it would jam forwards leaving the brakes on :/ had to pull it out and recondition it. Car is looking very nice too, soo jealous of some of those parts you have coming in!! You going to keep that zebra pattern continued up the side of the car? Edited May 10, 2012 by BlueKsev Quote
dbr11k Posted May 10, 2012 Author Report Posted May 10, 2012 its because of my stuff up I did last year, ling story short the seals in brake systems don't like engine oil lol, i want to use a larger master cylinder and brake booster but i'm really no good at messing around with that sort of stuff, might pay someone to do it one day, all depends on how it feels with the big calipers on there.. and no um not keeping it lol, will be painting the car properly once all the suspension is in, so maybe 2 months or so Quote
