altezzaclub Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 My man said they were from Endurotec, +20 & +40, round dish. Quite a few people stock them, looking at the web. Quote
philbey Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 Mine are Mahle's, 40 thou over, I think ACL are the aussie supplier. I had them supplied through my engine builder and they were $160. 8cc round dish. Quote

ACL after being purchased by Mahle pulled a pacific brands and moved piston manufacture to china. From what I've been able to dig up you can only buy NOS stuff. I'll give you a call a bit later Stuart to discuss. Stu. Quote
GJM85 Posted September 27, 2011 Report Posted September 27, 2011 That is correct Stu! ACL went into administration in '09 but was bailed out with a $7,000,000 package from the government, toyota and ford to prevent the losses of thousands of jobs in car manfacturing production lines. The failing company was recently purchased by Repco where production was moved overseas... Quote

Hi there Stu look forward to hearing from you have read your thread many times as i bet every other member has it is a great read, it is members such as yourself /taz-rx and of course OKE-20 that keep inspiring others to acheive better things for there own build. Any way one of my parts suppliers just rang and said he could get a set of round top shallow dish pistons(3mm dish) is this what they call the flat top pistons for the 5K or is there a proper flat top piston i should still be trying to get any info much appreciated thanks Stuart. GJM85 Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 To avoid confusion among 5k pistons we call them shallow and/or deep dish pistons. True flat tops are only found in the 3 and 4k engines. Some 4k's had deep dish pistons as well. Quote
