Tally Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 I recall s14 ones may fit with 1 strut hole filled out a bit... but not 100% sure... Quote
parrot Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Or S13? Not sure. I never had that confirmed by anyone though. Someone on Toymods looked into it. Problem with using the KE20 tops is that you will have positive camber. Quote
benhachi Posted September 20, 2011 Author Report Posted September 20, 2011 A guys parting out this and offered it to me T3 86 sleeve kit T3 86 camber tops T3 needle roller bearing Spring hat 6kg springs Trd blue short strokes with 5 way adjustable damper Toyota strut spacer I'm no expert so I'll put it past you guys, the car will be used as a road car for a while and eventually track once every now and then. ke70dave Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 those TRD shocks are supposed to be pretty good. 6kg might be a bit stiff, i had 6kg in my ke70, was pretty good, just a bit stiff for daily driving, certainly bearable though. i would probably go 5 or 4.5 next time, and spend up bigger on the shocks. how much for all of that? so it doesnt include actual struts? Quote
benhachi Posted September 20, 2011 Author Report Posted September 20, 2011 Well it's that and The rear setup too for 1150 shipped, I'll ask about struts Quote
benhachi Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 Comes with struts everything ready to go in. It's had 2 months of use. Sound like a good buy? Quote
parrot Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 What about the calipers, discs, hubs? All expensive. By strut spacer I presume that means a spacer to raise the insert. By rights, the strut tubes should be cut down to suit the insert length, but not an issue as long as the spacer locates the insert firmly when the gland nut is done up. Be wary of inserts with insufficient travel that are lifted up by spacers, further limiting the potential travel of the piston before they bottom out. Springs are pretty cheap and you would probably need to expect to have to experiment a bit. Make sure you tell me what works, after you do my R & D for me :laff: Camber tops obviously won't fit as above, unless you drill the towers, which I wouldn't do. You should factor in some RCA's (roll centre adjustors) to eliminate bumpsteer. Quote
ke70dave Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 what does the "rear setup" consist of? if that front stuff doesnt come with brakes i think its a bit on the rich side. costs for front end usually go something like this.... -bar struts ($200 or so, if you are lucky cheaper) -pair of shocks (B6 bilstein are about $600, TRD brand new are about the same i think) -coilover kit ($300 from otomoto including spring rate of your choice) -calipers maybe $150 2nd hand (+$200 to get them over hauled) -brand new discs ($250, don't use 2nd hand ones) -RCAs ($100, 2nd hand) -T3 camber tops are about $250 i think? but yeah they wont fit your car, need to modify. -new wheel bearings ($50?) -cost to get the welding done (maybe free, maybe few hundred bucks, depending on your contacts) so compare those prices to the price you got. Tally Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Yea was going to say RCA's are a must with the AE86 struts, my LCA's are sit almost flat which is not good. Not sure what size I will go but would like to push them down back to stock position just to be safe... Quote
benhachi Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 This fella is trying to rush me into buying his setup. I think I'll take a step back and do research for myself and decide what setup I want to run. I'm contempt to run around in the lj81 for now. From what you guys have told me I'll want to get really good shocks probably bilstein. Jdm brakes setup(maybe rx7 upgrade?) Te27 camber tops 4.5 kg springs maybe? 2tgeu is pretty heavy maybe 5 Quote
parrot Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 I wouldn't get too carried away with the front brakes. My AE86 setup in (funnily enough) my AE86 would stop on a 10 cent piece. And the KE20 is pretty light. Good move to take your time I think. Bear in mind you can buy various inserts on US ebay much cheaper than here, KYB AGX's etc. Something adjustable would be good to enable you to find a good spring/damper combo. And AE86 coilovers are everywhere. Quote
benhachi Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 2014 is that adm calipers? Apparently his selling jdm brake setup Quote
parrot Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Yes, 2014 are the solid disc calipers. Or what are generally called ADM. 2022's are the vented calipers. As above the solid calipers can be fitted over a vented disc, but only if you grind down the face of the pad - don't do it. Quote
benhachi Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 Yeah defiantly not. Found a guy selling just front jdm Calipers for 220 shipped. Shit gets expensive real fast Quote
benhachi Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 Bilstein struts getting in next week with 6 kg springs. Can't wait! Having a hard time finding jdm 86 calipers.. Quote
