Whatsausername? Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 With the S13 halfcut, Can I use the steering rack out of the S13 or am I stuck with the KE's stock rack?? And also am I supposed to buy S13 coilovers or KE70 ones? Is there much difference between them and which would be better?? Cheers :) Quote
BUZ440 Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Nathan you will find some of these questions are going to annoy people, You will find all of this information on this forum and toymods, As suggested for driting, buy an S13 whole and go from there, Otherwise keep the KE70 and practice from there and build on that Quote
phil86 Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Not sure about steering rack but, whole crossmember brakes struts lca's will bolt up. I have heard that s13 suspension will screw up your suspension geometry, but I'm still trying it on my ke30 lol... Quote
Whatsausername? Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 Cheers for the reply Phillip, I read on another forum that the steering rack and crossmember just need to be taken forward 30mm then I can use the S13 steering rack, And yea i'll just stick with KE coilovers  Quote
Grand Master of Awesome Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 If you're going for toyota coilovers why do you want the s13 rack? first issue is it being power steering, second you'd need to find an adapter to the steering collumn etc etc etc There's a large thread on ae86drivingclub.com.au with sr20 into ke70/ae86 info. xris Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 done it to a few cars now. mod the shaft to suit the rack, elongate the two back holes so the subframe just bolts on, manualise the s13 rack by pulling it appart and removing the plungers inside. redrill holes for ke70 castor arms, and your done. s13 tops need to be changed to ke70 tops for direct bolt in. or ae86 camber tops can be used. s13 bell housing on a r32 gearbox to bring the shifter back closer to stock. I then use the entire engine bay loom from the s13 and dash and wire it in so everything works. splice in the ignition to the loom also. few 3" holes cut in to feed the loom but other than that its straight forward. Grand Master of Awesome Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 Wouldn't it be easier to just use an s12 manual rack? Quote
Whatsausername? Posted September 24, 2011 Author Report Posted September 24, 2011 Well the way I see it is, If I use the S13 steering rack the engine has to come forward 30mm which brings the shifter forward (Because i've decided ill just use the stock box) and I get power steering (Which will be a dream when parking with a locked diff!) And the power steering in the S13 should be pretty much perfect, It's not like all new cars where you can just throw the wheel around cause it that smooth... Quote
