GJM85 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) I spent weeks chasing a12 pushrods. The problem is no one who's got some knows we want them... I purchased new lightweight items from Egay US. They measure 156mm. K Motor Pushrod Collaboration Edited October 6, 2011 by GJM85 Quote
towe001 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 I'd say fit the rocker train first, should be able to move a rocker to the side and slide in a 4k push rod to check its length. The a12 push rods are longer which are better for a head swap. Oh god damn it :paperbag: Just measured the 3k ones i have and their 175mm. When i can i'll update the Wiki with the info. Quote
nerfbat Posted October 6, 2011 Author Report Posted October 6, 2011 will be able to reply with a definitive RE the pushrods tomorrow. got a set of A12's coming from Reese Edward's son in the morning for 50 bucks. can also get brand new ones from your nissan dealer for around the $120 if you need, guys? ok, update, got the flywheel back from Gary at Repower in Tbar, took it to the scales at work. it now weighs 5.5kgs..! he managed to take off nearly 2.5 kilos <3 also my solid lifters turned up tensioning up the flywheel/clutch assembly all tight prior to dropping motor back in Rollamastah FTW..! so yeah looks promising to have the thing growling away by the weekend got a mate at scotchline who is coming in the arvo to give me a 'mates rates' quote on the tinting windows in the words of Big Kev: "I'M EXCITED!!!" ultimate fighter is 'down', beer o'clock now :-) thanks for reading Quote

towe001 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Bar-tard The guy at H and B wouldn't even take a kilo off mine :( Quote
nerfbat Posted October 7, 2011 Author Report Posted October 7, 2011 so, what started as a promising day, suddenly turned to sht.... picked up my push rods, today everything seemed 'peachy'. got the clutch cable in, timing cover on, hooked up the wiring to the alternator and starter. put in the new solids, tensioned the head, rocker gear on, push rods in. then, as we were setting the valve clearances, luke says 'one of them are bent, mate' 'you serious?' 'serious as aids' he says. and sure enough FFS..... only thing i can think of is, the pressure of the double row springs, combined with the .470" lift of the new cam, as i was rotating the engine slowly with a breaker bar, while setting the tappets, caused it? nothing sat 'right' anyway. the cups on the end of the rods above, were fouling against the rocker on a cple, slightly, during the rotation, etc. i got NFI... I'm over it, now, TBH... Quote
Evan G Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 the max lift of the doubles before they turn solid and bind is .500" so thats not it! is your cam timing right? how much of the head was decked? i think your rocker geometry is up the shit Quote
nerfbat Posted October 7, 2011 Author Report Posted October 7, 2011 thanks for the ideas, mate. have locked it up for the night, so i can have some beers and cool off. will check it out in the A.M. hopefully cooler heads prevail Quote
GJM85 Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Lifters is your problem, i reckon. The seat depth of the 3f lifter must be less than the holden lifter. You need pushrods out of a solid lifter 5k, which are 150mm not 156mm. I used 202 anti pump lifters with a12 rods and didn't have a problem. Quote
nerfbat Posted October 7, 2011 Author Report Posted October 7, 2011 upon reflection, it makes sense mate. will double check and report back when i calm down, tomorrow :-/ Quote
