orangeLJ Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Like carrying 4 adults, towing won't happen all the time but it will happen. The car on the trailer will be sub-950kgs, car trailers are...what...about 700kgs? :hmm: Good point about having to work the motor hard, ability to tow confortably is the point. Isuzu as in Isuzu D-Max/Holden Rodeo? I reckon I could live with that! Hilux, Navara, D-Max, Trition, I've got myself a ballpark. Mates of ours are in the same boat with being on the hunt for a vehicle that can seat 4 adults comfortably on long trips and tow a car trailer with AU falcon race car (for speedway) With everything they need to take for a nights racing their looking at something around 3 ton (spares, tires, toolboxes, jacks, etc, etc) The first vehicle they checked out was the v240 dual cab 4x4 cause a couple of other racers use them and have nothing bad to say about them, apart from the stock power to weight ratio. The only reason our mates dropped the GW is their maximum braked tow rating is 2.25 ton. But their still looking at it cause they can grab a second trailer for the commodore that can tow the extras. I work for a couple Honda Dealers (Marketing manager) but one of them has an Isuzu Dmax dealer attached too! The dmax is diesel only and as much as I am a Holden fanboy, a cut above the rodeo. Isuzu decided to sell their own products in Australia a couple years back, so Holden reverse engineered the Rodeo and made the collorado, and Isuzu sell the "rodeo" as the DMAX in aus. 3T towing on some models :) I'll let you all know how they go, Ive worked out some sponsorship for our speedway endevours, so will be using one of the 4x4 turbo diesel utes to tow our car down and back every weekend. Good enough for me, worth keeping an eye on then. I just found it funny how my old boss's Rodeo had 'Isuzu' stamped all over it, literally! Cheers man! :y: Edited November 8, 2011 by carbonboy Quote
towe001 Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I thought the first gen colorado came about after the Isuzu/GM spilt in which Holden lost the right to use the rodeo brand so they had to give the leftovers a facelift and a rebrand. Chevrolet Colorado. Quote
orangeLJ Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 maybe the early ones, but they are definitely holden built now. Quote

towe001 Posted November 12, 2011 Report Posted November 12, 2011 The holden colorado just got interesting http://www.caradvice.com.au/145340/holden-colorado-7/ :hmm: i wonder what happened to the pick-up http://www.caradvice.com.au/111468/2012-holden-colorado-revealed-ahead-of-bangkok-premiere/ http://www.caradvice.com.au/125534/2012-holden-colorado-crew-cab-at-australian-international-motor-show-2011/ Quote
carbonboy Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 The holden colorado just got interesting :hmm: i wonder what happened to the pick-up "Interesting" is one word you could use... I was heading more towards "WTH is that monstrosity?!? It looks like a Holden Captiva mated with a Dodge Ram & this is the offspring". Quote
kickn5k Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 Yeah not really a late model Holden fan(lost me with the VN) Had look at the new Colorado(concept) at the motor show and it looks quite good in person. I'm more a tray back guy so I'm waiting to see what they look like. My 2007 BT-50 2.5ltr single cab tray back is pretty bullet proof. Gets pretty good economy, I've had it as low as 6.5ltr/100km and as high as 9.5ltr/100km(loaded with 3 DH MTB's, gear, 2 adults and A/C on to mt buller). Has like 2800kg braked towing too and plenty torque to pull it. Stu. Quote
towe001 Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 True true, but unlike the captiva this colorado suv thing is built by chev with a holden badge and not daewoo with a chev/holden badge. Meanwhile the rally truck sure does take my fancy. Pity there'll be a good chance australia won't see it. Quote
