Smithius Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 (edited) After a bit of searching and looking on these forums every day, i finally found a decent car to house my supercharged 4K. I have had the motor going in my KE38 but running it with 2 different carbys and not really ever getting it to run properly, i recently purchased a 7K efi manifold so that i ca get it running to its full potential. The motor is a KE70 4K that i fully rebuilt with new 40thou pistons, all new bearings, fully reco head with double valve springs, fairly aggresive camshaft that made pretty good power when the car was N/A. I have fitted a SC12 supercharger that is pumping 6psi but that may increase when i get the motor running properly on the efi. To run the motor i have a brand new Megasquirt 2 3.57 and a techedge 2J9 wideband controler and display so i can tune it myself on the road. I have had some help from Brodie on this forum on selecting the parts needed for the conversion to efi. All i really need now is a surge tank and a couple of fuel pumps. The car is an 1980 KE55 coupe in the original yellow colour. Its running on 13x7 Hotwires and as of today its dropped about 40mm thanks to some custom 6kg/mm springs that SLO-30 made for my wagon. Back is going to be dropped with lowering blocks forthe moment but i may get the leaves reset later on. Also has some awsome 80's spec anti tramp bars. Anywho here is some photos of it when i bought it and after i had a bit of rust removed. And swaping the springs over today. Edited December 24, 2011 by Smithius Quote

Smithius Posted September 14, 2011 Author Report Posted September 14, 2011 I had the exhaust done on the coupe today. Just the usual 2 inch all the way through, straight through Lukey muffler, hotdog resinator, and the extractors of the wagz. On anouther note, i got some lowering blocks so i can drop the back a bit but the ones i got for it have the wrong pin diameter. I hate it when you order something out of a catalogue and not one part of it is correct. Pin diameter is 19mm not 25, ubolt size is 10mm not 12mm and the axle tube diameter is 53 mm not 65mm. Anyway thats my rant for the day. Quote
Smithius Posted September 20, 2011 Author Report Posted September 20, 2011 Ok so i got the lowering blocks and the front springs installed finally so now the coupe sits nice and low. Really good stance, not too low and with the Monroe GT Gas Rider shocks it rides pretty damn good. Also i scored some Paseo front seats so I'm in the process of fitting them now. Here is the before and after shots.... Quote
Smithius Posted October 10, 2011 Author Report Posted October 10, 2011 Been doin a bit of work to the coupe lately and i now realise that i hate doing body work. Only had a few little dents to fix up but still a pain in the ass. Also i recived a box from VPW with my fuel supply gear. Got myself a 1.5lt ally surge tank, Carter low pressure pre-pump and a bosch 070 (aka VL Turbo) High pressure pump. Quote
Smithius Posted October 18, 2011 Author Report Posted October 18, 2011 Had my new rims fitted up with new tires today. Rims are Sparco Racing somethings (can find what they are on the net) which came off of an AE86. Got 8mm spacers on the rear to push the track out near to the front. Got some super sticky Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE001 in 185/60 R14, also slightly expensive. Also got my whiteline swaybar in the mail during the week so i might fit it this weekend when i start swaping motors over Quote
Smithius Posted November 20, 2011 Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 Re done the boot floor and fuel tank cover panel in 12mm mdf and covered it in black carpet, going to paint the rest of the boot satin black so that it all matches. Went into work today and made up some spacers for the surge tank and mounted it all to a bit of ally plate along with the bosch 070 fuel pump. Quote
Smithius Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 Spent the day out in the shed today getting a few of the ittle jobs done that i have wanted to do for a while. First i fitted my new gauges in the original radio position up in the dashboard. I made up a 1.6mm thick stainless steel plate with 3 52mm holes and a 8 4mm holes for mounting. I fitted 3 of the supercheap auto Calibre brand black face led gauges. I have water temp, oil pressure and boost pressure. I also fitted my whiteline 20mm swaybar. I hope it makes a difference, bit hard to try with no motor. I previously painted my rocker cover in crinkle black paint when the motor was n/a and i had the polished su dashpots which was a nice contrast, but it has had some patches of oil on it that is a bugger to remove from the crinkles, so i paint stiriped the cover and repainted it with vht heatproof paint in cast alluminium. Looks pretty good in my opinion. And i chucked the 7K efi manifold on just to see how it all looks together. Quote
Smithius Posted December 11, 2011 Author Report Posted December 11, 2011 Got a KE55 K50 extension housing and shifter off a member on here, so today i set about combining it with my ke70 5 speed. Fisrt i cleaned and high pressure washed both the gearbox and the extension housing, then i found that 2 off the threads that the shifter bolts on to were rooted so i made a quick trip to work and fitted some helicoils to the stuffed holes. i then painted the gearbox in cast alluminium vht paint and the shifter in matte black vht with a clear coat, looks pretty good in my opinion. Also during the week i got my autometer 2 5/8th inch taco. Quote
JJT036 Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Looks good mate. :y: Josh  Quote
Smithius Posted December 24, 2011 Author Report Posted December 24, 2011 Finally got the motor and box in the coupe, resprayed the block before I put it in and I also the loom for the megasquirt and the wideband. You can just see them in the corner of the pic where the battery lives. Just waiting on a manifold gasket so I can bolt the manifolds on. Quote
Smithius Posted December 31, 2011 Author Report Posted December 31, 2011 Got manifold gasket yesterday so i tried to fit up the manifolds today but the extractors fowled on the inlet manifold where the original exhaust manifold bolts on. A quick trip to work and the offending mounting lug was machined off. So now the extractors and the efi manifold are bolted on. Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 31, 2011 Report Posted December 31, 2011 Pics of what had to be machined off? Lucky prick having access to the work machine shop :glare: Quote
Smithius Posted December 31, 2011 Author Report Posted December 31, 2011 nah didnt take any, give me your manifold and ill do it for you, only took 5 mins, you could do it with a die grinder or file but milling is nicer even if you can't see it. Its the hole in the lower half of the manifold, nearest to the head and right in the centre, sticks out underneath by 5mm and just fowled the extractors, you could grind the extractors if you want.
