Ifemamamja Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 Hi to all, I'm new here at rollaclub, I would like to ask for an advise. I'm eyeing this 1982 corolla 4 door sedan which has a 2t engine with a twin dcoe weber carbs. I'm having thoughts if I will proceed on buying it because of several factors like fuel consumption, maintenance etc.. if so, will it be a wise choice? or I rather look for another with a 4k stock engine? I need your tips and suggestion. THANKS!! :) Quote

If they were done quickly and haphazardly, you may need to spend some money to smooth things over. If the mods are done well, with maintenance and reliability in concern, you could be in for a good buy! Fuel consumption would be higher in the 2T, although climbing hills and keeping up with traffic will be easier! I know of a 2T Celica with twin carbs, exhaust, TRD cam and also headwork, which uses 10-12L/100km, depending on the driving being undertaken. The engine is quite "racy", but still very drivable. It could be worth it to buy the car and swap the carbies (and make some money back) for a single 32/36 Weber (or similar) if you were looking for a better fuel economy. You could expect anywhere from 8-10L/100KM if there were mild modifications done to the engine. 2T is a much better design of engine than 4K! :) What do you plan to use the car for? Quote
altezzaclub Posted September 3, 2011 Report Posted September 3, 2011 The motor is easier to swap than fixing the body, so make sure the rest of the car is good. If there's no rust and its generally tidy its got to be worth $1500-2k. Quote

Thanks seabiscuit, I'll be checkin in detail all the mods done on the car. Ill note if I can deal for a swap for the carbs for a single 32/36 weber. Quote
Ifemamamja Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 Seabiscuit, What do you plan to use the car for?
