ke70dave Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 I had a thought last night with the airbox. It might be worth installing a place where you can hook up a vacuum pipe. Then you could hook it up to your ecu via a second map sensor and log the inlet manifold pressure to see if you are getting any pressure drop/restriction over the air filter. You could even install your air temp sensor in it too. The air temp sensor from a GM car would fit real nice (~vs commondore have a nice flush sensor, I've go one here somewhere) Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 Sounds perfect. Ive seen plenty of airboxes with a panel in the box like we are discussing, I think it will work fine, but it would be interesting to get the data and know how its behaving. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted July 1, 2014 Author Report Posted July 1, 2014 Just purchased a nice black and grey set of door trims. Not a bad price either, 175 shipped from sydney. Quote

Jono.C Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Try living south of the border!! Been hovering around the 13-14deg for the last week in Vic. Air box sounds interesting. Medicine_Man Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 It was 5.6 degrees outside lastnight when i went to put my washing out. and was still around the same temp this morning when i went to work.. I miss my working heater box in my yellow ke70 :( Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 Today I built a bench in the area where the car is being built for Medicine man and Dave to work from when they help me. Its a new space for the engineering department. Quote

LittleRedSpirit Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 and dave Ive been thinking, there may be a better shaped filter and airbox to modify in that gives more filter area and ease of connection to the box. I might have a wreckers dig before I go much farther with this, and see whats out there with a bigger inlet hose and filter. I'm wondering if the filter we have off a small pulsar will be enough area? Quote
ke70dave Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) It woud be nice to have the air filter go all the way along the bottom of our box. One option might be subaru non turbo airbox. They have a long skinny air box that sits where the intercooler is on the turbo models. (possibly liberty?) Ignore the green circle..note the airbox. http://i146.photobuc...zpsa63b8477.jpg and here is the filter size http://www.rycofilte...ies//part/A1426 which is 371mm long apparently, our box was only 400 long wasnt it? pretty close. edit: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Subaru-Liberty-Gen-3-Air-Box-Assembly-98-03-Perfect-Condition-/321450105218?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ASubaru&hash=item4ad7eb5982 thats the one i mean i think. LittleRedSpirit Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 (edited) It would interfere with the clutch master if it was too far back on the base of the box I reckon. But that looks good. Id love to know how big the inlet hose is too.. Edited July 3, 2014 by LittleRedSpirit Quote
