rke_011 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Hey anyone have fitting instructions for a rollmaster cs9000 K series adjustable timing setup? i recently purchased a new one and it says theyre supposed to be instructions but there isnt... I don't know too much about timing, so i don't want to fit it incorrectly when it eventually goes on... cheers. Quote
Mitch-12 Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 you need to dial the cam in with a dial guage Quote
lonedrift Posted September 6, 2014 Report Posted September 6, 2014 hey where did u get your rollmaster cs 9000 from rke_011 Quote
da_snuff Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 have just installed one of these on a 5k, if you don't want to go advancing or retarding it it is easy. They have a dot stamped on the cam pin hole that is equivalent to factory timing. The A & R either side of that depict which way to rotate it for advancing or retarding. This dot should be lined up with the punch mark on the cam thrust plate. Then get #1 piston at TDC and install the two sprockets with the chain on. You may need to play with the crankshaft sprocket by rotating it a tooth at a time on the chain to get the line ups correct. Once on recheck the dots are still in the right places. There is another punch mark on the crankshaft sprocket that if correct will end up being able to make a straight line from it, through the centre of the crankshaft, through the cam thrust plate punch, through the cam sprocket punch mark, and then through the centre line of the camshaft.. I may have made this sound more confusing than it is, but in practice you should see what I mean. Torque camshaft pulley bolt to 40-47 ft.lb, may need to jam a rag in between the chain and sprocket teeth to prevent turning. Good luck! and if I am wrong on anything... sorry... will put up some pics once I figure out how.. Quote
da_snuff Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 pics! note that in the one where you can see the camshaft thrust plate I have not yet rotated the cam dowel pin to line up with the punch mark. Also helps to mark a line or dot off from the thrust plate punch mark so that you can still see where it is when you slide the sprocket on, just incase you accidently rotate it and can then correct it. da_snuff Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 you will also want the twin chain tensioner and chain damper if you didn't already have a twin chain. Can buy these off ebay I think. Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 What cam are you using snuff? Are you going to run it in the stock position or advance it? Do you think there is an advantage in running the adjustable setup? Quote
da_snuff Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 It's a 40A110 grind from Clive Cams in Vic, has 240 deg duration @ 0.050" and .296" lobe lift inlet and exhaust (with 1.5 rocker ratio should be 0.444" valve lift). I have installed it in the stock position as I am not that clued up on valve timing yet, so will get it going (still a way to go getting the bits and pieces I want) and will then do some more research and maybe play with valve timing. I actually bought the engine with most parts needed to assemble, so the previous owner did the hard work on deciding what to buy and that is how I ended up with the roll master setup. Quote
