bought myself a ke70, and planning on having it powered by an sr20. i will be buying a 180sx front cut with gear box for the conversion.

My question is wether to stick with the original corolla cross member or swap it out with the 180sx crossmember as lloyd smith has done with his ae71

rolla?

what would be an easier conversion??

How deep have you looked into the conversion?

If you have decided on a front end setup then this would almost give you your answer.

S13 front, coils, lca, brakes = 180 x-member

Ae86 front, coils, brakes, toyota lca's = KE x-member to be modified

Spend just as much time researching the conversion as you plan to work on the car. The forums are your friend

You could bolt the S13 suspension gear to the KE70 cross member with minor mods yes? And avoid the +1000000mm track increase you get when you put a S13 cross member into a KE70? I'm fairly sure Lloyd's car had a stack of other custom mods to make the S13 suspension stuff work properly, it seemed like a huge job. But it also seemed to work amazingly, or maybe he's just an amazing drifter :hmm:

Edit: Or is it the S13 LCA that give you the humongous track increase?

hey guys, newbie poster newbie ke70 owner, is the above quote the issue with fitting an s13 x-member? and can it be rectified?

Yes, S13 lower control arms are much longer than KE70 lower control arms. But apparently you can use R31 lower control arms instead of the S13 arms to minimise the track increase, as the R31 arms are shorter. Or you could just use a more positive offset wheel?
