1St Defect With My Ke20

South Australias road laws are stupid. I can't drive my regency approved 4age ke70 on my p's because the government classes it as I high powered vehicle. But I can jump in a brand new sv6 commodore or a subaru forester (because its turbo is for fuel efficiency).

 

I guess if we want to play we have to play by their rules :(

my car is all legal and has all ADR codes relevant, but they don't have the time to whip out the book,

 

besides driving an NT registered car in QLD, which is mod plated in QLD, the rules are different, and i think they just give up, haha

I don't care what it won, if it's unroadworthy, fix it. If you drive around in a car that's too low, with bald tyres, then you deserve everything you get.

 

There is a reason why being too low defects it, so raise it to a sensible height, and make sure you put some roll centre adjusters in it if the control arms aren't below the horizontal.

 

If you were expecting sympathy, you're in the wrong place.

Yeh my defects are nothing compared to what I've heard. But all good in a weeks time it'll be back on the road.

The car actually isn't that low. It clears 100mm easy. It just looks low coz of the flares. And with the bald tyres yeh that I well deserve that defect. The funny thing was I actually bought new tyres 2days ago and was gona put them on today. But unfortunately luck wasn't on my side this time.

Oh well gona have to keep the chin up and move on.. Thanks for your thoughts and feed back on this topic everyone.

213 Making a motor vehicle secure

(1) This section applies to the driver of a motor vehicle who stops

and leaves the vehicle on a road, unless the driver need not

comply with the section under another provision of this

regulation.

(2) Before leaving the vehicle, the driver must—

(a) apply the vehicle’s parking brake effectively; or

(b) if weather conditions, for example, snow, prevent the

effective operation of the parking brake—effectively

restrain the vehicle’s movement in another way.

Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.

(3) Also, before leaving the vehicle the driver must switch off the

engine if the driver will be more than 3m from the closest part

of the vehicle.

Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.

(4) In addition, before leaving the vehicle the driver must remove

the ignition key if there is no-one 16 years or older remaining

in the vehicle.

Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.

(5) The driver must lock the vehicle immediately after leaving the

vehicle if—

(a) after leaving the vehicle, the driver will be more than 3m

from the closest part of the vehicle; and

(b) there is no-one remaining in the vehicle; and

© the vehicle’s doors can be locked.

Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.

(6) Subsections (3) to (5) do not apply to—

(a) the driver of a waste management vehicle while

emptying or collecting wheelie bins; or

(b) the driver of an armoured vehicle while on duty.

Just say your locks are a different key to the ignition and you lost the key and didnt wanna be locked out of your car. No way in hell I'd pay that one.

 

Or you left someone in the car and they left without you knowing.

Just say they asked you to leave, the person you deal with wont know. How much is that part of the fine?

Wel that ain't me I know I'm in the wrong. But I didn't leave my car unlocked on purpose, I usually do lock it I guess the key barrel didn't turn all the way and I only assumed it was locked.
