FOOMAN Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Just wondering if the flywheel and clutch from a ke30 4speed would match up with a ke70 4 or 5 speed box? Because getting the ke70 box for my ke30 is tempting due to not needing to cut a new shifter hole and I've already got the flywheel and clutch attatched and can't be bothered taking them off. If it comes to it though, I'll just use the ke30 4 speed. Cheers Quote
xris Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Apparently according to exedy there are 2 part numbers for clutches in the KE70... Quote
mhmills Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Go the Ke70 5 speed, that's what I did. Quote
FOOMAN Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 Apparently according to exedy there are 2 part numbers for clutches in the KE70... So it could possibly work? Go the Ke70 5 speed, that's what I did. And you used the flywheel and clutch plate etc, from the ke30 gearbox? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Apparently according to exedy there are 2 part numbers for clutches in the KE70... ....and the bigger is for a K-T50. Long story short - Yes you can use the ke30 flywheel/clutch with a ke70 4 or 5 speed. Quote

towe001 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Because getting the ke70 box for my ke30 is tempting due to not needing to cut a new shifter hole I've got to question that, cause the shifter for the ke70 g'box is further back then what the ke30 shifter is. So unless the car is originally an auto you will be cutting metal to fit the g'box. Other then that, the parts you'll be needing is the g'box x-member from the ke30 (Re-drilled for the ke70 g'box mount), a pair of 1 inch spacer blocks that'll go between the x-member and the car frame and a pair of M10 x 50mm bolts Apparently according to exedy there are 2 part numbers for clutches in the KE70... After my experience with exedy i'm steering clear and leaning more to clutch industries. The CI clutch plate that i had to get to replace the exedy clutch doesn't just look stronger but its also firmer under the left foot. And it was cheaper as well. Quote
GJM85 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 There are 2 types of k series gearbox's. The common 19 spline & the rare 21 spline gearbox. Quote

FOOMAN Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 ah yeh fair enough, yeh my ke30 was originally an auto thus thinking about getting the ksev box Quote
towe001 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 Two speed or three speed auto ? The drive shaft for the two speed auto can be used for the manual g'box Whereas you'll have to hunt up one if it came from the three speed auto. Three speed auto - aka the holden trimatic Quote
GJM85 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 After extensive research I have determined I am wrong. PBR are liars.... The 21 spline clutch must be a T series box to 180mm flywheel. Exedy part numbers 19 spline - TYK-6036 - 180 x 21.6 x 19 21 spline - TYK-6280 - 180 x 24.1 x 21 Quote
FOOMAN Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 its the 2 speed auto, or as I prefer to call it.. slow and slower. yeah I've got the drive shaft from the car and also from the manual kit i bought Quote
