Tomas_90 Posted September 17, 2011 Author Report Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) Right, got the stereo working today and i also managed to get the speakers in place. Tho that was quite a bitch since it was so tight! On the passenger side i had to leave out 2 out of 3 screws cause they wouldn't fit anymore when the speaker was pressing on from behind, but it was steady enough so ill leave it like that i think. Driver's side was easy. So now they're completely hidden away :) Stereo started up and ran fine but i didn't mount it in cause it's getting late and cold and i suspect it will be more bickering again before i have it in the stereo slot, if it fits at all (lenghtwise).... Tomas_90 Posted September 24, 2011 Author Report Posted September 24, 2011 Installed the new gauge cluster yesterday! Looks awesome! But excuse the other mess, i'm still working on the stereo so i've left the surrounding plastic away for now. Works perfectly as far as i can tell. Even tho my other dash didn't have the Economy gauge the vacuum hose was already there just to plug into the new one. I'm just loving this car more and more for each day! :D Quote
Tomas_90 Posted September 25, 2011 Author Report Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) Collected the rear speakers, amplifier and some constructionmaterial from my brother today who had it lying around his home :) Going away for work tomorrow until thursday so i won't do anything about it before then, but it'll be great i hope! Tomas_90 Posted October 1, 2011 Author Report Posted October 1, 2011 (edited) Here's a few pics from today, terrible quality i know... Just waxed! Went over it with some rubbing and a "red paint restorer" wax afterwards. Altho for the sharp-eyed person you'll notice that the rear of the car is actually red'er than the front which has more orange in it. That's probably cause the paint has faded in the sunlight. The waxing did help a bit for it to be a clearer red color. But i don't think you'd notice it that much when looking at it outside in the sun. And these pictures lie a bit too, it's not this noticeable in real life. Got a little temperature gauge beside the steering wheel there that i added yesterday but apparently it's some cheap shit cause it doesn't feel like it's showing the right temp at all, neither inside or out -.- Next on the agenda is a home-made center console of sorts. Tomas_90 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Report Posted November 5, 2011 Where is the best place to put a cable between the dash and into the engine bay? Do you have to take it through the front left fender or is there someplace more convenient to put it? Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 6, 2011 Report Posted November 6, 2011 There is usually a spare rubber grommet or two in the engine bay to allow LED to RHD conversions. Did the tuneup solve the starting problem?? ...and the moment you tinted the windows then the rear side window suddenly looked very big! In my mind I expect to draw a line along the front door frame to the back, and now it suddenly steps up. Quote
Tomas_90 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Report Posted November 6, 2011 Yes i did find the rubber grommet you spoke of but they are on the wrong side of the car :D Oh well, I'm gonna have to take it through there then anyway. No i haven't solved the starting problem sadly. Just as soon as it's been stationary for a few days/weeks it's really hard to get it going again. Thought i was gonna burn the starter motor yesterday when i started it after it had been standing for a few weeks. But it did start eventually and once its started once it starts fine the next time. But it might get better when i start to use it since I'm not using it every day yet. But i think its either the distributor that's not properly tuned or the fact that i think the valves are terribly out of order. It sounds a bit like a diesel on idle so they are opening too much? Would that affect the ability to start good? You're right about that pic, it would probably look better like the pic below but then you'd have to cut the glass window in order to make it so. Quote
Tomas_90 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Report Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) Right, another finished project. Did the final work tonight and now i just gotta hook it up. The amplifier powers both of the 6.5" speakers only. Dressed in leather, but i forgot to take pics of that. Wires come like this. Same on the other side for the Power/Ground/Speakers. Tomas_90 Posted November 18, 2011 Author Report Posted November 18, 2011 Been driving the car to work and home now for 2 days and i must say it's a fun car to drive! It's so lively and direct. Just wish there was snow here already so i could start drifting! :D Quote

Tomas_90 Posted December 9, 2011 Author Report Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) factory black interior, two door KE70... your car is PORN! get some wheels off of yahoo japan, jesse streeter will get them shipped to you :) keep the updates coming! There are still a few bits and pieces here and there that i still want to make the interior even better. And I'm missing the big engines aswell :D I did see a complete set if 14" chrome rims with tires (on an old Celica) for sale this past summer that i almost bought, but since i had/have no plans on driving this car in the summertime i just couldn't buy them. It'd be a shame to destroy rare vintage chrome rims in winter conditions too. Got some snow outside now so i've been out drifting a bit once in a while :D Edited December 9, 2011 by Tomas_90 Quote
zeph_KE70 Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 very nice! Looking good so far! Quote
Tomas_90 Posted January 21, 2012 Author Report Posted January 21, 2012 Took a picture today so i might aswell upload it :D The 65 horses really is enough for drifting in the snow. Mostly you need to be in 2nd gear tho but it works if you got enough revs on and hit 3rd :D And i don't really feel the need for a LSD either cause it rarely spins one wheel only, only in 1st gear when going slow. As soon as you get 2nd the back end loosens and you can do whatever you want to with it :D Quote
