JJT036 Posted August 1, 2011 Report Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) This looks really good. It's really clean, especially being a 2-door and well looked after through it's life. :y: In my opinion, a 4A-GE upgrade is just another thing everyone with a KE70 wants to do, but really, for what? You're only going to be get just a few more Horsepower than the standard 4K. An SC14 Supercharger from a 1G-GZE will do the job. You put it where the Air Conditioning Unit usually goes, but this one doesn't have one, so you will need to find an A/C Unit Bracket, or make one. Then you just need to find the right pulley(s) (100mm S/C pulley will give you 7psi from the standard size crank pulley) and then tune it up so it performs just as good, or better than a 4A-GE. :) Then you just lock the standard diff, or throw in an LSD diff, and you'll have loads of cheap fun in your hands. :) A Smaller S/C Pulley, and Larger Crank Pulley, should give around 12-14psi from the Supercharger into the engine. :) Josh  Edited August 1, 2011 by ewt Quote
altezzaclub Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Tried to fix the driver door alignment Yes indeed it's a 2 door Unfortunately those two go together! Be careful to get it right and it will be good for a few years of driving. Check the hinge pins for slop and you can always put a shim under the lower hinge on the door. A lovely find! Quote
Tomas_90 Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 Well initially i was thinking upon placing a 4A-GE in there you got a good base if you then would want to turbocharge that engine. And i really don't see the point in spending big money on a tiny 1.3l engine to get it up to 150 strained bhp when you can just do an engine swap for one that does that stock. But it's just the matter of finding a drive shaft and rear axle that fits. And then i would have to have new suspension aswell cause i wouldn't put much faith into the stock parts atm, not that they are bad but its just so soft :D My other car, the Peugeot 406 has Koni adjustable dampers on it so that's rock solid compared to this car. Still that supercharger thing sounded a bit interesting... :D Unfortunately those two go together! Be careful to get it right and it will be good for a few years of driving. Check the hinge pins for slop and you can always put a shim under the lower hinge on the door. Yes the upper hinge pin wasn't tightened and moved about a little, the lower one had been replaced with a simple bolt, which was easier to work with. Passenger side was alright tho, only the driver side that was a bit worse. I haven't really done anything to the car now for a few days cause i was thinking I'm gonna go get it through M.O.T before i start ripping some bigger parts off. Just today i went and got the owner's papers in my name for it so as of today it's officially mine :D Quote
Tomas_90 Posted August 13, 2011 Author Report Posted August 13, 2011 Finally got around to wash the car today :D But i didn't take any pics sadly... Also got the car through inspection this friday so now I'm allowed to drive another year with it. Tho I'm gonna put it off "road use" for a few months now until the winter since i got 2 cars and it's quite expensive to pay for both when i don't need to. But i've noticed there are huge problems with starting the car. You really have to saw on the starter for many minutes (interval ofc) before it eventually starts. Tho it runs fine when it does get going. And i removed that black tape on the back under the trunk and there was nothing there so i can't really work out why it was there in the 1st place, but i presume it was keeping water out of the rear lights or something. Tomas_90 Posted August 14, 2011 Author Report Posted August 14, 2011 (edited) Got some more decent pictures taken today. This is the only bad patch of rust on the car, rear passenger side. Oh and the rear bumper is made of rust rather than metal aswell. Edited August 14, 2011 by Tomas_90 Quote
rian Posted August 14, 2011 Report Posted August 14, 2011 I am very jealous of your 2-door, it's super cool. Also that rust looks to be in a very bad place. Quote
Tomas_90 Posted August 14, 2011 Author Report Posted August 14, 2011 Yeah it is a shame on that. But it's all steady around the damper so it doesn't affect it in any way... yet. Quote
Tomas_90 Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 Tinted the rear windows last night :) I like this look a lot more than original. It differs the car a lot from any original car. Also today i've been shoppinga new air filter, spark plugs, ignition leads, oil, oil filter and a thermostat which will be followed with new coolant liquid aswell. Also bought one of those "engine flush" bottles designed to clean up the engine. Quote
Tomas_90 Posted August 19, 2011 Author Report Posted August 19, 2011 Here are the stuff, with the exeption of the oil. Quote
Tomas_90 Posted August 19, 2011 Author Report Posted August 19, 2011 (edited) Needs more low and wheels. Totally agree. That's the only thing missing now from making it extremely awesome. I'm keeping my eyes out for wheels all the time, but i havent found any yet. Edited August 19, 2011 by Tomas_90 Quote
Tomas_90 Posted September 4, 2011 Author Report Posted September 4, 2011 Put in the new spark plugs, ignition coils and air filter today and it was a slight improvement :) Got rid for the small extra twitches when accelerating as far as i could tell. Only went out for a short drive cause i don't have road papers on the car atm so I'm not allowed to drive it on the road. And i also changed the thermostat yesterday. Next on the list is probably some audio system. I noticed there are already a place to put speakers in at the front close to the floor in the sides. Is that made for 5" speakers or something there about? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 4" speakersfit in there perfect Quote
Tomas_90 Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 4" speakersfit in there perfect Great :) Gonna have to buy a pair of those then. Quote
Tomas_90 Posted September 16, 2011 Author Report Posted September 16, 2011 (edited) Bought a stereo today and a pair of 4" speakers. Looks like this: http://images.pricerunner.com/product/image/193942199/JVC-KD-R422.jpg The speakers were also JVC, but they didn't fit in the mounts cause they were like 0.5 cm too narrow So I'm not sure what to do about that right now. But to my surprize the cables were already there for both the front speakers and going up to the center stereo mount. There has Never been a stereo intalled in this car before cause everything was untouched :D Have to pull new cables to the rear tho, but that's no problems. Gonna make a new wooden board between the rear seats and window (don't know what to call that area in eng :P) where I'm putting two decent 6x9 speakers connected to a small amplifier.
