Gypsy Muma Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Hello, I am the owner of a 1981 Corolla KE55 and I'm going to have to sell pretty soon. My 4 children are getting to big too squeeze in. Problem is I don't have any idea how much it's worth. There doesn't seem to many for sale, so hard to compare. It's in very good condition. No rust on body a little bit of spotting on the chrome. 122,000ks, Auto. Immaculate interior, all original, except for the Pioneer cd/radio/speakers. Recently I've had the rear shockies replaced and points. I have all the receipts and full log book dating back to 1981. I also have the original new car manual. So.. what do you think? Twinky Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 It's really hard to put a price on something like this as it's what people are willing to pay and what it's really worth that are different. I have a figure of $3,000 in my head but that is just starters, could be worth a little bit more if it is in top notch condition. Just as a reference you can pick one up with minor rust, average interior and fair motor for about $1000 - $1500. So in the end it really comes down to if you can find a buyer that is willing to pay the price for such a fine example of a KE55. I'm sure some one else might be able to put you in the right direction. Maybe even look at redbook. Gypsy Muma Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Hello Linky, Thankyou very much for your reply. Red book.. derr. I forgot about that. Yes, it is in top notch condition and my mechanic says it will have no problem with road worthy, as you can't fault it. Sad... to sell : ( I really don't want to sell it to someone who's going to abuse it and make it look tacky. Edited July 27, 2011 by Gypsy Muma Quote
ke30 driver Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 put it up for 4000 and try ur luck Quote
Ben-89 Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 put it up for 4000 and try ur luck [/quote I agree with the above statement, its original, complete, and in very good condition by the photo. Most Corollas of this vintage are not comparable with yours. Why not advertise it at $4000, if the buyer can find a better one cheaper good for them, but stick to your guns. And yes why sell it cheaper so someone mod it and make it horrible. Its a pity you need to sell it, but I can't see an issue of it being on sale for too long. Quote
Gypsy Muma Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 Thankyou so much!! Sounds like a great plan. I'm in no hurry and I might start putting bricks on my boys heads until the car is sold :) to a deserving & loving owner. Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 If you keep it for just a couple of years they will all be getting driving licences and you will need it then! Quote
Gypsy Muma Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 If you keep it for just a couple of years they will all be getting driving licences and you will need it then! More like 9yrs till the oldest one is 16 and at least 2 years till no baby car seats. Don't think I could handle 9 yrs of whining and kicking my seat while trying to drive. Got enough of that in the house :bash: I did think about it, though. Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 Oh no, keep it as a second car- go buy an old Nissan Pintara wagon like I drive when I have too! 9years in their ages... but in 9years you will agree with me that it really only took two and half years! That's about how far back 1995 was for me! A 1957 Vauxhall Velox with a bench front seat did the job for us. Dad was an expert at clouting someone in the back seat without looking (didn't matter who he hit, we were all guilty it seems!) and the oldest got to sit in the middle in front. :laff: Quote

I bought my hubby a 1965 Vauxhall once. That car was cursed. The engine mount snapped while driving down the highway and bonnet clasp broke while going down a hill with it curved over the wind shield. We have allot of memories attached to that car  Quote
