K&S Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 I've been looking for a way to get a bit of camber on the front of my ke55, I looked into elongating or re drilling the strut top bolt holes and getting a Camber pin for the lca, but it's all a little dodgy or involves too much cutting N welding, does anyone know of any other ways of getting some degree, Like strut top bearings or something? Thanks in advance guys :) Quote
Evan G Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 i got my struts bent. not worth it. ($250) could of got xt130 struts and sigma lower control arms for that price. i THINK! gh sigma arms are what your after, they give around 1.5 neg camber. you will need to rebush it cause the LCA bush is a different size. get a tape measure and go to wreckers and come back with some solid info Quote
K&S Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 Yeah stuff bending the struts, do I have to get xt130 struts aswell as sigma lca's or just the lca's? Quote
Evan G Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 just LCA. the bolt size is different (corolla 12mm sigma 14mm) so you have to take it to pedders to rebush it. just measure it before you take em off. i think 1 inch means around 1degree neg camber. anyone share what model sigma we need? and if longer tie rod are needed? K&S Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 Measure the length of the lca? Couldn't I just di grind the size of the hole the bolt goes through? Quote
Evan G Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 you need to make the hole smaller 14mm to 12mm. measure the lca so you don't get the wrong ones and give your -5 degrees of camber Quote
K&S Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 Oh I understand, make the sigma bolt hole smaller to fit the corolla bolt, I got ya N so the sigma arm will be longer so it'll kick the bottom of the wheel outwards Quote
Zoidburg Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 (edited) You need the 80's model Sigma LCA's. But I think I got the wrong one's, as my camber is now pretty severe! I did this to my KE-30 Corolla a few months back, and it's not as straight forward as I thought. You need to swap a few bits, for example the Sigma ball joints must be used, the steering arms need to be wound out, the bushes need to be ground down a fair bit (have a grinder handy). Presuming your Rolla has similar dimensions to mine, you will need to do all these things. Oh yes, some bolts need to be changed too. There was something else that had to be done too, but can't remember right now... All up the control arms and ball joints cost me $50, labour was free as I did this with a mate in the drive way. Well worth it though, as the positive camber on my car was useless! Hope this helps. Edited July 22, 2011 by Zoidburg Quote
K&S Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 Geez zoid, ke30 n 55 are basically the same aren't they? How much degree did you end up with? Quote
ke70dave Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 what is wrong with camber bolts for the lca? Quote
K&S Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 I had a look yesterday and it will be too hard to cut the elongated hole into the metal, and the nut on the otherside is tacked in place n you can't get to it without cutting structural parts which I don't wanna do coz the car isn't a shitter Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 guys, some photos would be instructive! This question comes up all the time and we need one topic with it all explained in one place. Quote
snotyellowke55 Posted July 23, 2011 Report Posted July 23, 2011 So this isn't as simple as sourcing some sigma LCAs and rebushing them, then bolting them on? I need mad camber yo. Plus my 7" wide, phat offset spitfires are sitting way too far out from the guards (KE55) with stock camber  Eagerly awaiting to see what else is involved Quote
