CorollaNut68 Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Hey rolla people, Got a 69 KE10 with a toasted 1.2 in it...may need a new block or the whole shebang, haven't had it apart in three years but took off the head and have 3 pistons down instead of two up two down. Would like to do another close to original build sometime in the future. Original was 1.1, found a 1.2 "in the crate" and put that in and got several hundred thousand miles out of it before it gave up. Still have the 1.1 block but no crank. Where should I look for and what do you think would be best to put in it. Live in Arkansas and on really tight budget. Thanks for any info.
TOM Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 (edited) I'm sure I speak for everyone when I saw we would like to see pics of ANY corolla that has survived that many miles - that's epic!!! Actually it's almost unbelievable!! Afraid I can't offer much suggestion with the motor (3K's are basically free here, but original K motors are a little harder to come by - not sure what it's like in the states), but I'm others one here will have plenty to suggest. Suffice to say that the 3K (1.2 Litre) will offer a significant power increase over the K motor (1.1 Litre). 4K's (1.3 Litre) are the same block, give more power again (quite zippy in a KE10) and fit in with very little modification, and again are basically free here, but I don't think they were a common motor in the states. Good luck and please post some pics of this well travelled 'Rolla! Edited July 15, 2011 by TOM
GJM85 Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 1486cc 5k out of a toyota liteace will almost fall straight back in when the 3k comes out. A few little changes like the sump, water pump housing and it will still look standard.
