don't want to add any more info to that?

lol we were both writing on here at the same time.

i was just making a note that hey would have the 150mm push rods as a few people such as scott pmp020 his 5k had flat tops with the 156mm push rods' so if it was going to be modified to take note'

There are 2 types of dished 5K pistons. Deep "D" dish of 22cc and a Shallow "O" dish of 6cc (commonly refered to as flat tops) Just a bit of clarification for anyone asking for dished pistons and not getting the right one. :)

can you still run the 5k head with the 6cc pistons or not advisable, Just pondering another build and was curious :blinks: :blinks: :blinks: :blinks: :blinks: :blinks: :blinks: :blinks: :blinks: :blinks:

just to add to this,

i got scott's 5k and it doesnt have flat top pistons, its running the dished d shape pistons that my other 5k i have has.

the 5k i compared it to has the lugs on no 1 and 4, 150mm push rods, d pistons and a small amount of combustion space in the head.

so this means that it is running the 22cc psitons and requires a small amount of space in the head for combustion.

now the question,

i also have a 4k but that has a large combustion chamber in the head.

the 5k from scott had a large compession area in the head which had been shaved down to decrease the area.

do i use a dished piston head from a 4k or will i have to use a d piston 5k head.

i have been doing some searching and i think as long as i don't use a flat top 4k head (as that will increase my combustion chamber size too much) i will be ok?

i thought i would just add to this thread instead of starting a new one.

thanks chris

Measure the volume to be sure, otherwise you're guessing on what has been done to the heads in the past.

All you need is a bit of 2mm to 5mm clear plastic the size of a combustion chamber and a burette or pippette from a chemist or lab supplies. There's a photo about 3/4 way down this page.

I assume every size piston had its own head as the compression ratios were about the same from the factory.

yeah cheers i will measure the chambers but i just want a starting point to get a head that i can use.

need to suss the whole motor out as it wont just be a "lets build it quick and cheap" job.

do it once and do it right.

thanks for the info.
