So Pete and I have been working our butts off gettings the roof racks finished up and they are now on the home stretch! 98% of the paint is off; the two rack sections have been welded together and the mounts have also been welded back on in position. It was a tedious process getting everything spot on for alignment, but it paid off, as there must be less than .5mm staggered fitment of each section joined to the other. I fitted them up 5 minutes ago for a test fit. They fitted exactly how I wanted it! :) There is about 40mm of adjustment outwards before they sit in the gutters, so just in case I get a car with slightly smaller gutters they should fit. The only thing that I'm not liking too much is that they are slightly too high compared to their length now. They still look great and will be perfect for the trip.

The next step is to touch up the grinds on the welds and finish getting those last few chips of paint off. Once I've finished this I will give them a good clean and then give them a lick of primer/paint... I tested the colour of the Red paint that I bought on some scrap roof rack and it is quite bright, but I think it will still look fine. I tried out some hammmered copper finish on them today to see what it looked like. It wasn't too bad, however it wasn't a match for the blue paint, so I'll stick with the red! :)

Pictures soon guys!!!
