t18drifts Posted July 1, 2011 Author Report Posted July 1, 2011 haha yeah it probs have to wait a few weeks lol Recently spent 150 on chrome bumpers 400 on tyres 340 on some sideys and then ill have to pay for my paint work in the next thoughtnight havent even been told a price yet :S Quote
fusion Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 (edited) Dave from AJPS got me a strut brace from Japan for my TE71, but thats because its counted as a series one T18, which meant KE70 didnt fit. The Cusco that came was worth the wait though. Like the rest said get your bushes done, will make a big difference. Sounds like you already got some decent tyres. Personaly I wouldnt go for a rear swaybar, especially an adjustable one, but personally I usually either don't run one or stick with the stock swaybar. In the T18 I would be looking into a steering rack conversion. Steering box is so crap Cheers Fusion Edited July 1, 2011 by fusion Quote
t18drifts Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 hmm how hard is it change to rack and pinion Quote
ninja-philbo Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 if u can use a welder not that hard Quote
Jono.C Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 it's more than just welding a rack on.. you've got to think of ackerman angles, if the racks too high it'll be shit, too low it'll be bump steery, and a little off either way and it'll crab Quote
philbey Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 i remember watching a video where they did back to back testing of strut brace and no strut brace, On the old Porsche forums (pelicanparts.com) there's an amazing amount of dispute and anecdotal evidence for the pro's and cons of swaybars. Old 911's apparently suffer from outboard flex and camber changes under hard cornering, but nobody's produced any actual data. I was considering simply making a sliding brace and fitting a high resolution linear potentiometer. Couple that with a 3 axis accelerometer (damn every phone on the market has one now) and a datalogger, and all I need to do is a hot lap or two and there's the data. Quote
t18drifts Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 hmm i think ill stick to my box setup untill some one who knows what there doing can help me Quote
Jono.C Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I'm pretty sure you could swap to ke70 crossmember? use ta22 engine mounts to bolt the 3tc back in and then just chuck in the ke70 steering column and hook it all up Quote
altezzaclub Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I was considering simply making a sliding brace and fitting a high resolution linear potentiometer. make a sliding brace and tape a webcam under there! Possum's navigator, Roger Freeth, used choke cables on each strut to carry suspension movement back inside the car to 4 sliding indicators on the dash, and that was in the days before dataloggers or transponders. That was in his V8 Starlet. I used to meet him when I worked at CRC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awZRHgj60uE Quote
