Guest pmp16 Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Not 100% sure but think from mid 69 up have them badges meaning they were an australian built car before that they were built in japan n imported over .. Quote
1970KE18 Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Unless they were an import like my 1970 KE18. Quote
Guest pmp16 Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 Aren't the ke18 still built in Australia ?? I thought from late 69 upwards they were built in aus Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted July 13, 2011 Report Posted July 13, 2011 1970KE18 was stating the obvious that any imported car will not have the AMI badge. ;) Quote
parrot Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 It wouldn't be a 100% indicator your car was locally built, as they could have been fitted later. Back then, there were strict quotas on the number of cars that could be imported, which forced local manufacturing. Then later there were quotas regarding what percentage of a given car needed to be local content. Quote
