Just wondering whats compatible with an ae82 as far as mechanicals go (engines, brakes, transmission, suspension, hubs). It seems to be getting quite hard to find parts for an ae82 or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places but was wondering if things could be upgraded to slightly later models would make things a little easier. Currently I am thinking ae92 have heard alot of it may be easy bolt on difference also maybe toyota starlet.

The "Search" function and the "FAQ/Wiki" tab at the top of the page are your friends.

You should aslo trawl through AE82.net

+1

The good news is, there's a fair bit that you can shove into an 82

The bad (well, not really) news is, you're in for a bit of reading & re-reading (& if you're like me, re-re-reading :laff: ) to find out the info you're after to make a decision on what to do.

Good luck & seeya at AE82OC :y:

Dude its one of the most popular cars on the planet, there is no shortage of parts for them.

What model have you got? Twincams have the 4age and rear disks. Bigger brakes can be had off other models (ae92, sv21)

Gearboxes are pretty much all interchangable (ie ae82, ae92, even 6 speeds from later models) You can get factory lsd boxes.

Search, and ye shall learn (twincam.org, twincam.org.au also)

well I thought it was a popular car too but currently trying to source a 5age in my local area seems quite an effort everywhere I ask they pretty much tell me no hope of finding one.

as for twin cams having discs on the rear I not overly sure about this as I am still yet to find an ae82 with rear discs and whenever I mention I want to change to discs people tell me there isnt any point the drums are adequate and yes they may be adequate but don't overly look good behind a set of mags

This is what you can do with your rolla.

Car in front in a supercharged 4AGE

My Car Specs:

1987 AE82 Twin Cam

4AGE Silvertop 20v conversion

ISC coilovers

AE93 SX Series 2 Brakes

EBC Greenstuff pads

Toyo T1Rs all round

8,000 rpm shifts WOOT!

So there is a shiteload of things you can do to the rolla. You just have to look.

I do realise I have much to learn thats why I am looking at pages, wikis and websites alot of the time and asking what seems to most of you like stupid questions as I am researching and gaining information.

my bad was meant to read 4age not 5age though this morning have found a halfcut going what I am calling not to badly priced its a ae101 with a supercharged 20 valve 4age in it so am quite tempted to buy it and do the swap.

some things the fella who has the half cut did bring up though is the difference in flywheel sizing me having a single cam apparently have a 8inch flywheel the supercharged twincam has a 9inch I figure this isnt much of an issue as worst case scenario I should be able to use the gearbox and all from the other vehicle. I could possibly use the front brakes from the 101 with the hubs being compatible though the struts are different.

Actually HKS, and it was a combination of a 4AGE block/head (with mods) and a stroker kit.

super charged 20v didn't ever happen as far as coming stock in a ae101, the 16v 4agze did in the ae101 and they're the best of the 'ze motors. The only ae82's that came stock with rear discs are the twincam edition's in the hatch and seca. If you have been readin wiki's etc you should know this.

Maybe read some more before you ask a question that has been asked too many times, but hey its all part of the process, good luck with the build!
