Hey all,

May as well start at the beginning. I am a fully qualified Mechanic. I have recently moved to Mill Park (just near Bundoora). I have a 1976 Ke30 4 door with a CA18DET including Transmission and custom driveshaft. Up front are some RA60 struts, hubs, rotors and calipers which will soon have new bearings, shortened strut inserts with coilovers, machined standard rotors and green stuff pads.

My first issue is the Positive Camber. Is there any adjustable LCAs or Camber hats for the ke30?

As I have nearly finished the front end I am now looking towards the rear with the diff, I have read through the forums and have worked out I need either a Hilux diff with LSD or an R31 diff with fairmont LSD.

Problem 2, Hilux stud pattern is different? strength of Fairmont LSD? cost(budget of $1500-2000)? sourcing parts? and an engineer to build it?

After this I want to have the whole shell sand/soda blasted, which also means removing and refitting front windscreen and rear window.

Number 3, Anyone know of someone to sand or soda blast around Mill Park? and also someone capable of fitting a Windscreen and rear window tidy?

Then I will prep and paint the car myself, after which I will need to get the seats, door trims and dash upholstered. Then Exhaust, Tune and mod plate.

Which brings to number 4, anybody know of a good upholsterer? Exhaust shop? Tuning shop? and someone to mod this nasty piece of Metal?

P.S hope the Rollaclub scene is good down this way cause this beast is gunna be out to every event once its done running, I don't think it will ever be done, always room for improvement

Cheers all for any Info

Richard

Check out "The concord" (name of the street) off Grimshaw st. (at traffic light's next to ford Dealership), their are a bunch of factories, one of them may be able to help or know some one that can.

it is an awesome rollaclub scene in melbourne, plenty of guys in your area always down for some cruising, keep an eye out in the melb thread for cruises and mini events, some can be at short notice, can't wait to se your rig out and about.

can't help you out with any of your requests for good workshops sorry, but hopefully someone on here can.

all the best,

Yeah should be good to see some other guys set ups and see how well they work. Would be overrated to get the beast to a track day. I thought my old 489HP Evo was nuts around a track, but the power to weight plus being rwd in the rolla will be legendary!!!

Hi Richard welcome to rollaclub :)

I live in Greensborough, just off Grimshaw St. And in the past I have deal with a few

businesses in that area.

Give The Concord a go and see what surfaces, but pass through Clements Ave thats between

the Watson Holden and Northern Motor group dealerships.

On your right which is the first shop is Muffler Magic, deal with them for RWC's, exhausts

and they are quite honest.. They could rig up a custom system for you with no trouble i'd say.

Down the very end of Clements turn right head straight and turn left past the Nissan

parts division and you'll see a little cluster of factories. In there is a panel beater/painter who is preety good with his work. My ae92 needed a dent pulled and he did a great job.

When I went in to pick up my car was rubbing back/stripping one car by hand as thats his preference... but hes good. Name of his business is Karmichael Panels. Just some food for thought anyway :y:

Some points

Problem 1 - RA60 struts are known for positive camber. You can purchase strut tops from www.ajps.com.au to suit your Corolla but they won't help much if you are running standard style springs. The spring run into the side of the shock tower almost immediately. You really need to convert your struts to coil overs to get it working right - otomoto do a good kit. Or use different struts which don't cause the problem, like RT132 corona ones.

People often use a sigma lower control arm to sort out their camber issues. I believe the ball joint taper on the sigma arm doesn't match the toyota one, so some mods need doing if you want to go down that path.

Problem 2 - I think the RN25 Hilux diff is the perfect one in terms of size and correct stud pattern. It is also rare as rocking horse poop. I think that is why the Skyline one appeals, as it is correct stud pattern and LSD are easy enough to get.

Problem 4 - I know a good trimmer - Terry's Motor Trimming at Clayton. Its no where near where you are though :)

Good luck!

Another point I forgot to mention Richard. The is an older gent who lives off Trist St

who has been a motor trimmer for 50 yrs and he does a great job for a honest price. He did

my bases in the front seats (replacing the vinyl panels and foam with fresh materials). And also my front door cars - replacing the backing with something firm and fresh.

Luckily he still had a roll blue vinyl from Toyota!

He operates from home so if you'd like his number feel free to pm me :y:

Yeah will be using coilovers just wasnt able to find any strut tops, cheers for the link.

Had a hunch the r31 would be the way to go, the car is more for street/track not so much for 1/4 mile so r31 would be plenty, just gotta source one and get it made up.

Sounds like my type of trimmer, someone that will actually take the time to get it right :y:
