Greetings, just picking the brain of anyone with the know how, I am looking to replace the mechanical fuel pump of my twin sidedraft 5k with an external electric pump and regulator to make way for future plans.

I am looking at 4-6psi Fedtro solid state fuel pump on ebay for an easy $34.85. Wondering if this item would be a suitable replacement for the mechanical one? :hmm:

Yeh looks like to should work just mount it as close as you can to the fuel tank for the best results

I use one that runs 2-3psi works great

Some are a touch noisy but you get used to it

Should be ok 35gph seems a bit low for fuel rate, pressure seems ok.Could also look at weber performance they have pumps that flow about

70 gph.

As said mount close to tank ,as they push fuel better than suck. Most are noisy just how they are,at least you no they working  .

Was gonna say that too. Ran a Facet on a couple of Rollas and yes they are NOISY. If you rubber mount them it aint so bad though. Used to push enough fuel to keep a 5k running 3kb carbies happy at 8000rpm.

Ok, well the easiest place to mount it is gonna be in the boot, because the fuel lines run out the tank under the parcel shelf and up into the C-pillar where they magically apppear out of the lower right side of the firewall.

There's not a whole lot involved in wireing them up is there? I don't need a relay or anything?

No relay but think about wiring it to eather the ignition switch or maybe alternator so when you turn it off it stops pumping.

Yeah ignition switch will be a must.

....and the easiest way to do that is with a relay!

it is taz and expect it to fail ive had 4 or 5 die had one die the outher day pos didnt even run it for 2 hours

So these pumps aren't worth a pinch of shit?

not worth a cent man i f@$king paid 50 bu for this one a fair while ago only just took it out of the packet

and it f@$ked out straight up and yes i had it on a relay and fused

Yeah. I might just keep the mechanical pump for now and get the regulator. I think mechanicals put out about 5psi anyhow.

Is there a different part number for the fuel pump between 3k-c to 3k-b? If not you'd expect it to supply enough volume to feed your twin carb.

I've got a 35gph pump to fill the surge tank in my 11. It supplies enough volume to keep the surge tank topped up. But I have the original purolator(I think that's the name)

Had it since I bought the rolla, well it came with car so it could very well be 15+ years old.

Stu.
