abbott Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Keep it red. Everyone would paint it black. Fight the power! Haha Quote
JJT036 Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 It's an AE71 SPIRIT -- not a fully hektik 4AGE KE70. And because it's a Spirit (which I don't think are too common these days), you'd leave the Spirit looks and features on it. You'd at least try to leave it as original as possible (well at least I would). Nice pick up Jake. Looks pretty good. Just needs a Cut and Polish and it should come up sweet. :) Josh  Quote
mhmills Posted July 10, 2011 Author Report Posted July 10, 2011 So I managed to get to Pick-a-Part about a week ago, I picked up a replacement carpet. Unfortunately it's blue, not grey like the original, but for secondhand quality it is in good condition. As per usual as I was removing it from the white KE70 there, it began to rain. This seems to be a recurring thing when I'm at Pick-a-Part, ask Evan. I got the carpet out in about 10-15 mins. That afternoon when I got home, I began to remove the original carpet and gave the blue one a quick vacuum. Got the seats and carpet out no worries, half the carpet fell to pieces when I used the slightest amount of force to remove it. At this point it was getting dark and attempted to get the blue carpet in, but couldn't, it ain't easy fitting a carpet with torchlight. I just laid it down as a "prep fit". I gave up and chucked everything back in the car and let it sit for a week. Today I managed to finally get around to finishing off fitting the carpet. I also vacuumed up majority of the floor under the carpet, there was so much rubbish and what not. I managed to fit up the carpet relatively no problems, it gets painful around the center of the firewall area, but with patience and time you will get it. Lined everything up so everything can bolt back up. I gave the rear seat a quick clean with warm water and some Polyglaze Upholstery Cleaner, looks a bit better. I gave the plastic door sills thingos a clean with a cloth and some warm water. I then fitted the rear seat back in and just chucked the driver's and passenger's seat in the car and locked it up to finish it off tomorrow. I need to finish cleaning the seats and give the carpet another vacuum, I need a replacement driver's seat. I kinda want an aftermarket one but don't want to pay lol. I also plan on replacing my battery terminals as one of mine are warped and damaged. That's all for today, took some snaps. Enjoy. Cheers, Jake. Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted July 10, 2011 Report Posted July 10, 2011 Shmick! :y: my carpet is s shagged! got so many stains and ciggy burns. Quote
mhmills Posted July 10, 2011 Author Report Posted July 10, 2011 That only set me back $20 and it's fairly close to overrated condition. I'm happy with it. Quote
Ben-89 Posted July 11, 2011 Report Posted July 11, 2011 That looks quite good that blue, only did 117000kms which explains the great condition. Just put some large floor mats down to cover the area, $10.00 from autobarn you can't go wrong. Quote
mhmills Posted July 13, 2011 Author Report Posted July 13, 2011 Planning on spraying the CS-X rims gold, don't ask why, coz I have no idea. If I like the colour scheme, I will have a new plan. I'm on the phone looking into it at the moment. Also I haven't taken photos but the interior is CLEAN! I want to do before and after shots, but I'm lazy. Cheers, Jake. Quote

LittleRedSpirit Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 (edited) Only spirits had colour coded grills, so i say leave it, respray the red even. It looks a bit 80s but that is the point. Oh the memories... and gold wheels on a red car looks pornographic if you ask me. Edited July 15, 2011 by LittleRedSpirit Quote

However, I don't know why :P I've seen the gold with red go well, so I plan to try it myself. Also, I'm chasing some quotes rims wise. You will have to wait and see what I have up my sleeve :P Cheers, Jake. Quote
GJM85 Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 My 3rd car was a white spirit with the red stripe down the side. I got it for $250 and put a set of hectic polished jelly beans. I loved that car. :sob: Quote
