ChanseyKE55 Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Hi everyone i don't wanna ask a question that problem has been answered...soo can someone link me to a "how to 4k headgasket" i couldnt find any :( Quote
Mitch-12 Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 there is a copper bit that has to line up with a oil hole in the block Quote
altezzaclub Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Which bit couldn't you find Chansey? How to fit the gasket on the block, top or bottom, left or right, or how to do a whole 'change a headgasket' job? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 click pictures to zoom in. I really need to scan this book. Quote
scottiriver Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 yeah just did mine cos it overheated, blew the gasket and warped the head :( then to top things off, the coolant went into the oil :( 1. remove inlet and exhaust manifolds, spark plugs, leads and dissy cap 2. remove two bolts and on the top of the rocker cover and remove rocker cover 3. remove rocker gear 4. in opposite, diagonal order, remove the cylinder head bolts 5. pull off cylinder head 6. remove and discard gasket and check block and cylinder head for warping 7. (optional) remove and regrind valves into seats 8. install cylinder head with bolts in opposite diagonal order to correct torque (if u can get the bolts in corrent order from a book then thats better 9. install rocker gear, 10. install rocker cover 11. install spark plugs, leads, dissy cap, and manifolds 12. run engine till operating temp and then adjust tappets thats the very basic process that i did and it worked a charm :) good luck Quote
ChanseyKE55 Posted June 11, 2011 Author Report Posted June 11, 2011 Those pictures you posted, are they out of a gregory's manual? thanks for replies guys btw. Quote

ChanseyKE55 Posted June 13, 2011 Author Report Posted June 13, 2011 Hey guys just wondering a)Torque settings for head bolts? b)Anyone un-common sized sockets ill need or uncommon tools? Quote
ke70dave Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 best bet is to grab yourself a gregories manual mate. all the torque settings will be in there. actually if i recall correctly, last time i bought a headgasket for a 4k (ACL i think) it came with the torque sequence and settings in the packet. i changed a 4k headgasket with a basic socket set, no weird sizes required.
