HP Racing Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 this is my work account. and with the fab stuff i kinda wing it haha but i must say i go alright on the tig machine Quote
Mitch-12 Posted December 12, 2012 Author Report Posted December 12, 2012 ok so cnc machined rear floating hubs turned up earlier this week which is good :) and the commodore got some harrops front and rear Quote
Mitch-12 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Report Posted January 6, 2013 okay so heres where I'm at!! the budget has gone cause i bought the commodore but i got a heap of inspiration over the new year to get my 70 going.... so to do it cheap and not spend heaps it will have ls1 r31 diff cause its ready and I'm too lazy with the 9" , 15's 9-10 rear and 8 front and I'm going drifting cause I'm silly and i rekon i might just go not too bad plus it will be fun away from the stress of circuit racing haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so watch this space!!! Quote
Mitch-12 Posted January 7, 2013 Author Report Posted January 7, 2013 see i promise I'm getting this beast going soon :) trying my hardest haha!! it will be a drift car for a couple years then once i get some cash flow happening look out V8SC lap records ;) Quote
Mitch-12 Posted January 12, 2013 Author Report Posted January 12, 2013 did some stuff, made the new engine mounts just a few gussets to be added once there jetcut out, and the diff is joined which is good :) need shocks of some sort of the coilover breed and make a panhard rod mount and new panhard bar and also i need some spacers for the rodends cause they can go sideways and stuff. and the front coilovers should be here tuesday and o forget what else is coming but by this time next week it will roll and maybe even have the gearbox fully mounted :) Quote
Trev Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 once i get some cash flow happening look out V8SC lap records ;) This is probably the stupidest thing I have seen you say, you yourself should know that v8sc's are limited to the times they can run by power output, it has been proven that they are a monster with the rev limiter lifted. Smaller car, obvious lighter car, bigger engine... 2 Quote
Mitch-12 Posted January 15, 2013 Author Report Posted January 15, 2013 Could you Please explain when they turn into a monster with the limiter lifted? Quote
Mitch-12 Posted January 15, 2013 Author Report Posted January 15, 2013 Personally I've never seen one go faster then a mainframe lap record at any track.... And the power curve drops off at 7500rpm so how would more revs make them better? Quote
Trev Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Sorry, I last watched V8SC's when the racing actually meant something which was 10 odd years ago and I was told by a very reliable source that a few years back they did some testing on an old v8sc setup and lifted the limiter this car had by 1000rpm and it made a stupid amount of power. Doesn't quite take away from what you said though. Quote
Rob 5000 Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Good to have a goal mitch and a V8SC record is something that can give others a good understanding of how quick it is in real terms as its the most popular racing category in the country. NIce pick up on the rev limit thing, you demonstrated again that you know what your talking about. Quote
Mitch-12 Posted January 16, 2013 Author Report Posted January 16, 2013 got some steering starting to happen. and bought some shocks for the rear from the states, nice ol coilover ohlins- Quote
