G'day fellas

I've got a little problem with my KE55. Big problem actually. I've got a stock 4K-C and it's pissing petrol out of what I believe is the fuel pump.

The part is on the line inbetween the fuel filter and the carby so i believe it is the fuel pump. It says "KYOSAN DENKI" on the top. It is little and round. It has a line coming out of it with two brass nuts on it, one large and one small. There is a significant amount of fuel pissing out of the top nut.

What is wrong? Is this why I used 30L for 150km? How do i fix it? Do i need a new fuel pump?

Cheers guys, you're great.

ooh ooh i found the problem.

The metal pipe that goes from the fuel pump to the carby has a lovely crack in it. anyone know where i can get a pipe that goes from the fuel pump to the carby?

From past experience cut the middle out of the pipe so you have 2 ends.

One that goes into the fuel pump and one that goes into the carby.....replace the bit you cut out with rubber fuel hose....so it will look like this

Fuel pump - nut on pipe - 2 inches of pipe - rubber fuel hose - 2 inches of pipe -nut on pipe - carby.

make sure you clamp the fuel hose on to the pipes....

my past experiences with the fuel pump end of the pipe shearing off and creating a engine bay fire could have been prevented if there was some flex in it..

unfortunately the crack is level with the top of the nut

no leeway to do anything but replace

ie the crack is in the first inch or so of the pipe

yeah i'll be able to get the nut and fuel line out okay.

it goes

pump-nut-crack-------------------------------------pipe----------------------------------------------------------carby

so i'll just get a new pipe from the wreckers i suppose... unless anyone here has one they want to get rid of..

I'm on brissie's northside. Aspley/Chermside. I think the wreckers might be closer than melbourne but thankyou kindly for your offer.

Unsrew the fuel line fitting from the fuel pump. Chop your fuel line a few inches short of your carby. Then screw a barbed fitting into your fuel pump. *shown in the picture*. Clamp some fuel line to the fitting and then clamp the other end to the existing metal fuel line on your carby.

I see you driving home most afternoons now dude

You usually cross Gympie road while i'm at the lights. Your car is fairly unmistakable.

Aaah madness! I didn't realise anyone would ever identify me. :D :D :D Makes me grin from ear to ear.

I would absolutely love to join you boys at a cruise/event in the future. When is the next one?
