altezzaclub Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Are we talking fans mounted on the front or fans mounted behind the radiator here?? You could PM rob83ke70, he has a suckthrough on his #88 car he does rallycross with. I don't like the shroud it has as it is flat & up against the rad, so all the air has to go through the fan blades. This means there is a lot of drag when the fan is not running. If I get around to doing one it will be in front of the rad, or at the rear end of the usual plastic KE70 shroud 150mm of the rad, like the stock one is. Quote
RainWarriorDregs Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 i bolted a 10inch davies craig up to the inside of the radiator inside the stock shroud, and it does move a ridiculous amount of air. They are a bit loud, but when your engine is running, its nothing  Quote
coln72 Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 The one on the KE35 used to vibrate the whole car, to the point where someone tried to drive off in it with the motor off.... It was mounted in front of the radiator which had to be moved back a couple of inches for it to fit. The motor on that thing was huge. Quote
philbey Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 how does the dave craig fan mount to the radiator though? just through the fins? thats how my dodgy supercheap fan is mounted, and its certainly not I made a couple of brackets for mine with aluminium angle across the front, plenty of room on a ke10 between the grille. I would never dream of simply putting bolts through the fins given how easy it was to make brackets. Are we talking fans mounted on the front or fans mounted behind the radiator here?? I would prefer to run suck through with a shroud, but space is the problem. When my car is at full temp, you can feel a massive temperature difference in the corners of the radiator where the fan doesn't blow through. The ke16 radiator is small, there's probable another 20-30% cooling to be gained with a shroud. And yes, the Davies crags are very loud, I'm almost tempted to put a resistor in the circuit to slow it down a little! Quote
