saammyke55 Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 (edited) So my boyfriend recently bought me this beasty little ke55 & ive christened her ROSIE th rolla. The first thing i wanted to get out ov th way was th interior - which was standard factory black vinyl & brown carpet. & & By th time i got everything out, she jus looked so bare.. I havent gotten around to th carpet yet, but th interior came up better than id hoped.. It came with no stereo & th wiring was soo dodgey.. but after a few hours & alot ov patience i managed to fit my stereo in & rewire my speakers so that now it actually sounds decent.. It took a day to do th dash & side & back pillar trims, so th next day i did my door trim & I'm not a hudred % happy with it but itll do until i get abit more practice. I want to put flames coming up from th bottom ov th door trim, but that will take alot ov practice until i feel comfy doing it - this is my first attempt.. thoughts? B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 That interior colour is really nice! Check Knox auto carpets of you want new carpet, mine was about 150 delivered. Quote
saammyke55 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Report Posted May 28, 2011 yea we had a look last night at the knox site & it is pretty cheap for moulded carpet , we are going to be cheap & save a bit of money & use some old carpet under-lay we had left over from ripping up old house carpet (: Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 I used old underlay under my new shit. Knox stuff doesnt come cut out so save your old shit as a template. I had to lay my old stuff on top of the new stuff and use chalk to mark the holes to cut out. Seatbelt/ seat rails etc Quote
saammyke55 Posted May 29, 2011 Author Report Posted May 29, 2011 (edited) so i got around to buying a decent staple gun so i could re trim th rest of my door cards, made it a million times easier. we are only using old carpet underlay as foam just to save a bit of money, it works pretty well and makes them heaps spongey, also layed heaps of underlay down under the seats and anywhere we could to make it a bit quieter inside the car while driving, and glued some sound deadening stuff into the insides of the doors to make the stereo sound better.. only got two more door cards done as one of th cards was mouldy and falling apart :/ so we will hav to cut out a new one tomorrow when we do the parcel shelf, than after that we decided to re trim th boot while we are going as we have about 5 metres of vinyl lol :P also looking at buying some fibre glass and doing a custom boot/sub install hehe and ov course heres some picts of our hard work, what do you guys think? (: sorry about the crappy quality pict i only had a phone on me.. dunno if you's noticed but we got rid of the ash trays too (: and i'm just about to get the sewing machine out and stitch together some pieces for th little bit next to th rear seat (where th wheels go) Edited May 29, 2011 by saammyke55 Quote
mhmills Posted May 29, 2011 Report Posted May 29, 2011 Looks pretty good. Good little project cars corollas make. Quick question, what colour have you changed the interior to? Is it a pinky creamish colour? Hard to tell on my phone... Cheers, Jake. Quote
dbr11k Posted May 29, 2011 Report Posted May 29, 2011 its hard to explain but th dash board & th pillar trims are a different colour to th door cards.. Th dash was done in vynil die from 3m, i think it is called 'buck skin' & its a really light bone colour, while th vynil door cards are more a brown/beige colour.. I got th material from spotlight for 12 bucks a metre :P we are thinkin bout dying th door cards the same colour as th dash later on, but unless its done really well, then there is a good chance it will peel off soft material. dbr11k Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 so, finished making the last door card and trimmed it, and finished off the parcel shelf this arvo and fitted some 6x9's, they're only running off the head unit at the moment but actually sound really really good considering they aren't anything special like components or anything like that, later on when i find some amp cable, I'm going to run all four speakers off a 4 channel amp.. and a mono block amp for the boot after i get around to fibre glassing some sub boxes for it.. the parcel shelf was a dead set c%^*t to get right but after test fitting it 20 times it didn't come up to bad Quote
dbr11k Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) might have to turn down the quality on my camera lol :/ Edited May 31, 2011 by dbr11k Quote
Onikage Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 Looks like some serious work is going into the interior, looking good! Quote
saammyke55 Posted June 2, 2011 Author Report Posted June 2, 2011 soo th cars coming along perfect (: just gota do a few more minor things than start on th motor.. gota give it up to my boyfriend but - seeing as ive been taking most ov th credit when hes been th one doing all th work :b Quote
dbr11k Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 started off working on the boot this arvo .. also went a bit mad last night and bought some decent 4 ohm dual voice coil subs at 400wrms each.. and bidding on a sound stream tarantula.. hopefully i win cause i haven't done a decent stereo set up yet and that amp would be a great start running 2000wrms at one ohm stable.. until i get the amp i can't do to much more to the boot as i want to make a dummy fuel tank cover and mount the amp embedded into it. also lookin at some fatmat or dynamat, beofre i start the fibre glassing of the sub boxes... when funds prevail of course .. unfortunately i had to cut the floor in half to get it in the boot lol .. but it still looks pretty neat i suppose. i put some sandwiches under it to help it sit even. all trimmed up. dbr11k Posted June 6, 2011 Report Posted June 6, 2011 (edited) well progress has slowed down on the old girl for now.. waiting on subs and the class d amp to show up at my door.. than ill have to wait till i get some more cash saved up so i can buy some fibre glass resin and attempt to make some enclosures, at this point in time I'm parting out the ae71 i crashed to fund this project.. so if anyone is lookin for some ae71 parts just give me a buzz on 0458648087, i still have a lot of parts left.. drove the car to dubbo and back on the weekend (about 1000k's) and she held up pretty well except i found out that it uses ALOT of oil.. the light come on bout 100 kays from home and i had to walk to a farm house to ask if they had some oil i could buy.. put about a litre of diesel oil in it to get her home, so ive gotta drop the oil before she goes anywhere else.
