B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Things to do, help me sand my car. Stories : don't move in with friends into a share house and pay your power bills, cold showers suck. Quote
carbonboy Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 Enjoy your newfound freedom! Make paying rent, bills & buying food your top priorities. I go to trade school with a bunch of guys in situations similar to yours who'll go on & on about how wasted they got at some club on Friday night. Then in the next breath they're whinging about having no money for food after they've borrowed money from Mum & Dad to pay rent :hmm: Here's a thought, maybe that $200 odd they spent on alcohol, kebabs & taxis may have been put to better use. I'm not saying don't have a life, just a time & place :) Congratulations on the job acquisition! :y: Quote
ke70dave Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 (edited) Create a budget.....right now. Make it realistic with 'fun' money, stick to it and you won't have any dramas! also whats the job? out of curiousity. Edited May 27, 2011 by ke70dave Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 That auto pay function thing is great in your bank account . So if you get paid on Monday Day you want the auto pay function to pay your bills on Monday night. So you are never tempted by huge amounts of Money in your bank account. Quote
philbey Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 I'm going to go against the grain here... 1 meet new people 2 go out and party 3 drink beers 4 realise that you've got a hangover, 5 days til payday, 1/3 tank of petrol and 30 bucks to your name. 5 learn the many delicious ways to prepare rice and still make it tasty 6 get paid 7 return to step 1 and repeat. Living skint and enjoying every minute of it is a rite of passage. You don't truly appreciate the value of money, and the hard work that goes into earning money, until you run out of it. I recommend it to everyone, as long as you - Don't mooch. Mum, Dad, mates, be man enough stop hitting them up for $ and live poor. In drastic cases when you really need it, make PAY IT BACK. - enjoy some vices, but don't let em run your life - work hard Learning the hard way really drives the message home, we could all listen to the older blokes, create budgets, invest wisely and stay home on saturday but that's boring..... 2 Quote
7shades Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 Work hard, earn cash, get munted frequently and f*ck everything that moves. Repeat this until such time as you feel like you should maybe start putting some cash away, do some travelling, upgrade the car etc. It might take a few months, or a few years. Quote
ToasticlesAe82 Posted May 28, 2011 Author Report Posted May 28, 2011 Create a budget.....right now. Make it realistic with 'fun' money, stick to it and you won't have any dramas! also whats the job? out of curiousity. The position is a car audio technician including sales. So it's the odd wiring and install every now and then but it's mainly a sales position i get pretty decent commission and i've always been pretty good with money, so i'm not worried about much there and i'm not moving in with any mates cause they're all in south brisbane, my brother will be moving in with me in a few months time when he gets his p's and a job. and reed yes! i'll come help you sand your car for a beer or two :P Quote
cinky Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 i agree with philbey. where is the fun in listening to others on what they tjink you should/shouldnt do. make the mistakes and learn yourself. when i was an apprentice i would save the fuel money and get drunk and then ride the pedally to work. ke11restorer Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Or you could just get a decent paying job and not have to worry about anything all of you listed? Quote

Never a truer word spoken. I haven't moved out of home but as soon as I got a job everything I wanted I had to pay for everything myself. Cars, rego, insurance, board, and chip in for water and electricity. I was going great having the time of my life. Lost my job for a few months around my 18th, had money saved from working hard. blew it all in a month or two on getting wasted for no point at all. I ran out and had nothing, Car was broken down, mum and dad weren't in a position to help. So I got up off my ass and got a job. Not a good one but something that paid the bills. Learnt some hard lessons along the way (mate crashed car and bailed, people owed me money and bailed, bought a falcon ect) But I'm glad everything that happened; happened. It's made me the person I am today, I'm glad my parents have bough me up to pay my own way and learn from my mistakes because it's a @&%#ing good feeling being on top of your life after you were so far down. Knowing that you were the reason things changed. /rant/life story. toasticlesae82 - Have fun with it dude, just remember to look after yourself because no one is going to be there to hold your hand. except maybe rollaclub  Quote
