KE30_RoLLa Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) Okay ive narrowed it down to these 2 motors, 1GGTE & 4AGE Engines. now i know that the 1GGTE fits in a Ke30 as i have seen one on youtube and is street legal in NSW. and i look at pictures of it and it looks like there is not any firewall recessing nor tunnel work ?? ( please clarify for me ) i know many people have done this but i would like to put a 1GGTE in it and yeah. so yeah sorry for making another thread guys & girls... so yeah please no negative comments. uhmm i just need to know if any of these will be street legal ? any recessing of firewall and chopping or making gearbox tunnel bigger ? and obviously i would have to change brakes and suspension I'm assuming ? and please tell me if theres more ive missed out, which i know will be but just can't think of it at this point in time. Cheers Kyle. Edited May 30, 2011 by Xany Quote
Redwarf Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) i just need to know if any of these will be street legal ? The ONLY way you will get a definitive answer on that is by contacting a certifying engineer in your state. No other answer is acceptable. Edited May 25, 2011 by Redwarf Quote
ke70dave Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) i have a mate who is a mechanic, and his bosses mate had a dog, and the guy who used to clip the dogs hair had a ke30 with a 1ggte. my mate told me, that his boss was told by his mate's dog hair clipper that it didn't even need a brake upgrade or anything, even has the original tyres! so yeah you should definitely start the conversion tomorrow on the authority of my mate's bosses' dog's hair clipper. Just mention him when you go and see the engineer for your car. -------------- mate, go and see an engineer, as reddwarf sais, its the ONLY way to know. Edited May 25, 2011 by ke70dave Quote

Either let your fingers do the walking or if you happen to ever buy Street Machine magazine I think they have a contact list for engineers.Exactly where are you and I may be able to give you some addresses/numbers. Redwarf Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Going to an engineer without a plan is pointless. You need to do your research, get a rough idea of a plan, and then take it to them. That engineer will have the yes or no answer. ie: 4ag. Pug brakes, hilux calipers, pintara rear discs, t-series diff. Or 1gg, hilux diff, kenworth brakes, john deere gearbox.... I suggest you spend about two weeks solid researching here, toymods, google, get your act together and things will be sooooo much smoother. Quote

altezzaclub Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Forget the 1GG, its a dog! Ask anyone in Altezzaclub who has an IS200 and not an Altezza. Its big, heavy and puts out 120KW compared to the 3SGE's 156kw in the Altezza. You don't want a 2L six, you want a 2L four, or even better a 1600cc like the 4AGE. Spinning a bearing is a high risk in these engines if maintenance such as regular oil changes are not done due to oil starving in this engine Hmmm... Wiki... Catch up with a couple of other guys on here who are looking at odd 4cyl swaps from things like FWDs. If you don't want to do a 4AGE try a 3SGE or an MX5 motor and box, both RWD platforms. Merc 190, BMW 318, Honda S2000... Keep it light or you'll ruin the handling. Quote

BUZ440 Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Kyle to answer your questions, everything you have listed can be legal in QLD, You are going to be paying out your rear end, and in the end you might as well as wait for a tidy turbo corolla, datto or gemini, which will probably still keep up with your projected build I can tell you i have 6 ADR codes on my mod plate, and the price, well lets say i could forge my engine and have a GT30 pumping 350hp atw and enough for a family dinner box at maccas and to clear it up, was no mates rates on the mods, I stuff around with it and he will come after me Quote
