AE92_rolla Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 this was for sale on boost if I'm correct? and it has some sort of insane horsepower i do believe :P Quote
ninja-philbo Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 very coor little car and would be nutts if those are the figures Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted June 14, 2011 Author Report Posted June 14, 2011 Cheers for the comments fellas. Yeah its definitely different, it's just a shame this model is SO different that I can't find parts for it anywhere. Any rare spares supplier suggestions?? Â Yes it was for sale on boost, and here, and gumtree. And the power figures are a little hard to believe. True or not, it seems well built and with a bit of a clean up, should do me just fine for daily/weekend track duties. Â Update with pics this weekend. was too cold weekend just gone, my hands wouldn't work frozen. Managed to relocate the boost and oil pressure gauges to a less conspicuous position. Left the water temp where it is as i might look into replacing it with a Celcius gauge. My brain doesn't work in fahrenheit. Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted July 1, 2011 Author Report Posted July 1, 2011 should have an update with pics for this over the weekend. Will be taking the alternator out for refurb or replacement, brand new battery is flat already so I reckon this is to blame. I'll see if I can find a distribution block for the battery relocation as it looks shit just all hanging off one bolt with electrical tape around it (not how I would have done it). Also want to move the circuit breaker closer to the battery just in case. Â Might take a trip to autobarn and grab a catch can seeing as both the breathers in the rocker cover are just hoses leading to nowhere. Â So if I get these things done, i'll throw the dvd head unit and stereo bits from the starlet in to fill up the holes and have a look at relocating the aftermarket gauges from the top of the dash to somewhere more subtle and Constable friendly. After some investigation, I found it was the earth on the battery that was causing the starting problem. Starts every time now. Still need a distribution block for the positive terminal mess. So two full days of work this weekend, interior all out and cleaned and gauge positions finalised hopefully. Stereo in if I have time. Photo's on here Sunday. Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted July 3, 2011 Author Report Posted July 3, 2011 (edited) All the dash bits back in. All the yellow gone. Moved gauges from the top of the dash to the console, a little less conspicuous. Have to replace water temp gauge as it's stopped working. It was a mechanical thick copper wire version anyway. I like the electrical ones with thin wires that are easier to work with. Â DVD head unit, momo gear knob, factory pedal rubbers and floor mats all stolen from my deceased EP82. trying to steal as many parts as possible so it can live on. Â My Wife is a gifted resin jewellery maker so i have hired her to make me a custom blue horn button, hence the lack of steering wheel. Edited July 11, 2011 by 20v4agteEL31 Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted July 11, 2011 Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 Took a trip to see my mate Dave at Wholesale Car Parts Australia in Archerfield. Picked up some bits to play with, got a Levin Steering wheel and AISIN 38T25 Brake Calipers and rotors, also got some front indicators from a Chaser front bar just to see if they'll fit. Should keep me occupied for a little while on the weekend. Also found that EA falcon tail lights have the same angle and width needed in the indicator for the front bumper, so I got two from the wreckers and cut the brake light off the top, with a little light persuasion, they should fit nicely. Pics to come. Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) The inteior looks great, I'm happy you got rid of the yellow detailing, I'm going to keep an eye out for parts for you, PM me with what you need so I know what to look out for. Â P.S: Check your compliance plate, I doubt your EL31 is a 86 model. Edited July 24, 2011 by TOMsGPTurbo Quote

P.S: Check your compliance plate, I doubt your EL31 is a 86 model. Thanks mate, I appreciate it. All I need really is indicators/parkers for the front bumper and tail lights if available. If I wanted to be really picky, theres a piece of trim missing from in between the front guard and the bumper on the passengers side, right next to the headlight. And as for the compliance plate, I've never actually looked at it. Kind of embarassing really lol. Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted July 27, 2011 Author Report Posted July 27, 2011 P.S: Check your compliance plate, I doubt your EL31 is a 86 model. Â I checked, it says '86. Its a E-EL31-KGMXT which is ranged from 86 to 88 apparently. It's had the front bumper replaced at some stage from a newer model. Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Well I'm surprised :) Still the fastest EL31 in the world! Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted July 28, 2011 Author Report Posted July 28, 2011 I dare say it might be. Pitty it only goes up and down my driveway at the moment. Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 Parts car purchased. Bit of rust but has a mod plated 4efte, AND A FUN TOP!!!! Â Â Plan is to pull off the bits I need and fk it off. So if anyone wants a cheap 4efte, hit me up, as I now have two. Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Posted August 16, 2011 busy day today, took delivery of the white Toyota Corsa. Big thanks to Rosscoe for selling at such a good price, Tom'sGPTurbo for bringing the add to my attention, and Door to Door Car Freight for getting it to my door in one piece. I felt this car deserved a little dignity before I mercilessly ripped it apart for the sake of another car. So I spent an hour or so washing all the excess crap off and took a few photos. Â Â Not bad really, would have been a fun car in it's day. It's the little things that show it had an owner that cared about it at some point. like all the little trim bits that my black car is missing. Any way, got to dismantling. though i'd start with the front and work my way back. Â Â and here's the photo of my black car back together. This is the first time this car has had all of its lights working for a very long time. note the clear lense headlights from the corsa also. Â Â Such an 80's smile. Fog lights are yellow which i don't know if i like yet. Â Got interrupted by work stuff at this point and didn't get as much done as I'd have liked. Flying to Hong Kong tonight. Back to it late afternoon, had a crack at the Corsa's rear lights to see if they'd fit. Turns out they are quite a bit larger... Â Corolla 2 on the left, Corsa on the right. So i'll have to change the rear bumper to get them to fit. Â Apart from the front seats, the interior is really tidy too. The dash's only blemish is where the usual aftermarket boost gauge would have been. Will all have to wait until I get back from HK though. Can't wait to get home and get back into it. Like a kid with a new toy. Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 That's rad, I didn't know that the rear lights are different sizes, looking good though :) Quote
20v4agteEL31 Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 That's rad, I didn't know that the rear lights are different sizes, looking good though :) yeah, I didn't notice until I tried to swap them. The whole bumper on the white car is lower and has a nice line that compliments the GP side skirts. So I painted it matte black and fitted it. Looks good, lights are perfect and clean. If it wasn't raining cats and dogs yesterday arv, i would have taken some shots. Update next couple of days with interior progress too. Quote
