rollake70 Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 has anyone on here ever used air shocks??? just been recommended to get some, but i dnt know much about them? do they make your car sitt way lower/higher?? would be good to hear feedback because so far I'm considering putting them in. Quote
coln72 Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Used to have a set of air shocks fitted to my KE35. Used to be able to lift the rear up to normal ride height when I was towing the camper. Quote
TE278U Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 they will put a lot of extra stress on the top shock mount. might be better to get helper airbags that go inside the coil springs that have the same principle. what are the benefits you're looking for by installing these? Quote
rollake70 Posted May 22, 2011 Author Report Posted May 22, 2011 well yes i am going to start towing, but only a tinny and id like to make my car lower than it is now. But not too sure because it has king springs in it now ( lows ) if i get the shocks will the car go any lower than it is now?? Only thinking of the spring resistance Quote
RA28GT Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Sure wont go any lower, they only have the ability to raise your car. I used these in a torsen front vw type 3. They work ok for adjusting the height, they must be ran at minimum 10psi for diving. Do some research into these, they have some major flaws, horrible for handling and put alot of stress on the shock mounts. Quote
coln72 Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Yet I never had an issue with them. Go figure....... Actually used to break the bottom of the shock (Monroe GT) off before fitting the air shocks which were sitting in the old mans shed. They were originally off his HK Monaro and they did years in that car without any mount issues either. Quote
