LXY-642 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) hey everyone, Thought I might throw up my new car here also. Hopefully this ones and keeper and I can stop going through cars lol. just bought a 1967 vw deluxe 1300 beetle. unfortunately it's about another 7 weeks till i get to pick the old girl up. with only the pictures i have been sent to go by it seems to be in pretty good shape especially for the price i picked it up for. so i'm extremely happy. ment to be a 3 owner car, so that'll make me the 4th since new. last 2 owner's were female and the last one had it for the past 16 years. car was caught in a hail storm at one stage in it's live leaving a couple dings in the passanger side fenders and on the front hood luggage area. i do have some plans in mind for this car, but for starters all that i want to do is get it registered then lower it and just enjoy driving it for while to after i buy a house. will let the pictures do the talking from here. Raven Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Good base to start with and I'm pretty certain a lot of panels are still being made for these things, so shouldnt be too hard to source parts for at all. Whats the plans in the long run? Wider rear arches and nice wide wheels? Quote
Chobis Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Sweet! They must have been some pretty serious hail stones. Hoodride that sucka. Quote
Kid-Ae Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Such an awesome base for a project! Whitewall, lower, surfboard on top and cruise ;) Quote
LXY-642 Posted May 21, 2011 Author Report Posted May 21, 2011 raven: yeah seems to be a pretty awesome base, no major rust issues and fairly straight apart from the hail damage and only the fron't seats seem to have tears in them haven't been looking to hard yet, but i know can get fiberglass fenders front and rear up to 2" wider then standard. brand new steering wheels, bumpers, interiors. so annoyed i didn't get one when i first wanted to lol, it's been put off for almost 6 years now, wanted one of these before i bought my vl way back on my L plates. short term plans is a 4" narrowed and adjustable beam, shortened tie rod ends to suit and 2.5" drop spindles all from airkewld. and drop the rear via the spline's to match the height i go with the front. got some plates in mind, but wont say what they are till i get them. less people know the less chance the plates can bought before i get them lol. long term plans. get front and rear air suspension kit's from airkewld and an air management kit from airbagit to have full fbss airbag kit :) put some disc brakes front and rear, keep looking at airkewld's 4 piston front wilwood kit, but i'm trying to touch the motor so that would be massive overkill which overkill is never a bad thing :) and also considering some 17x7" smoothie's from airkewld, they come with new hubcaps and all and are designed to look just like the standard wheels except in 17's and i'm a big fan of stock wheel's especially when bigger :) chobis: had the same thought when she sent the pics through of the hail stone damage lol. i have no plans to paint it so will fit a little into the hoodride/rat scene with the bit of surface rust on the roof lol. rolla'boy: whitewall is also in the short term plans, along with lower. not keen on the surfboard though. and cruising is a must :) Quote
LXY-642 Posted May 25, 2011 Author Report Posted May 25, 2011 Plans have changed now. After alot more research. I won't be touching anything from airkewld. And will be sticking with the standard 15's. So now going for a dub ( down under beam ) 6" shockless adjustable beam. And adjustable and notched rear spring plates. Quote
silverra23 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 sounding like a better plan :) i like the car and its potential stay away from fibreglass guards too... they look cool as fuch with original steel... put some with 135 tyres on the front and 175's with your lowering and it will be sweet needs a period roof rack too.. though they wont be so good for carrying your bike! silverra23 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 here is what i was thinking, thanks to bugselecta Quote
LXY-642 Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Posted May 27, 2011 Have been seriously considering some period style roof racks. Just not to sure how the pushy will go mounting on them lol. And it's a brand new pushy so don't wanna scratch it all by just laying it down. Here's the pushy. And no supercharged lol. Trying to leave the motor stock and just cruise :) Quote
Chobis Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 The only bike allowed on a roof rack on that car should look a lot like this: Quote
LXY-642 Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Posted May 27, 2011 True. I've always got my ute for the new pushy I suppose :) Quote
