ae824ate Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Have i critisised you? Ive asked serious question so far. Usually silly question with obvious answers annoy me, but tonight I'm in a good mood. To make your corolla drift, you will need a decent amount of power at the back wheels (engine conversion), and steering and suspension upgrades (sway bars, lowering, coil overs perhaps in the front, LCA changes/mods etc etc). All of this will cost a shit load of money. Then it has to be legal and engineered. For example, if you buy a sr20de/t half cut. You need to weld up engine mounts, gearbox mounts, sort out a diff preferably with disc brakes for stopping, and engineering, custom tail shaft, fuel lines, fuel pump/s, fuel filter, wiring loom and computer mated with the body harness which is a job in itself (huge bitch of a job!), sorting out running a speedo cable/sensor, hydraulic clutch etc. The list goes on, and none of these jobs are easy or straight forward. Chillin Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Just buy a ke70, ae70 or something nissan. Ke30/55's do not have the suspension geometry to make a good drift car. even if you poor the $$$ into it it will still be a 35+ year old car that was in no way intended to drift. Also If you drift, accept the fact you will crash. A ke30 will not save you from much more than a 50km/h impact from side. If you after something to drift on your p's go get a nissan, and let someone take that ke30 off your hands to restore. Ke70's are mostly ugly and rusty. please crash a few of those. 2 Quote
caibs Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 at the end of the day you're going to spend heaps of money and have a car that still isnt competitive. the chassis isnt right for drifting, its a leaf sprung rear end, small brakes all round and almost no off the shelf aftermarket performance gear. but because you're probably about 17, you're not gonna listen to what anyone says anyway. i didnt, i tried to make a slow car go fast and i learnt my lesson. Evan G Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) And you wonder why you get half arsed replies? If you want definitive answers, ask definitive questions. Not some open ended shit that could have 900,000,000 different replies, NONE of which you seem to like. how can i LSD going around a round about in 2nd gear (4.3:1 diff ratio), at 3500 rpm. 50degrees of left lock, dabbing the brakes with a proportioning valve set an 90/10 and with one hand on the wheel and the other hand putting up the unit logo? Crowie55 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 buy a ke70 for 200 bucks, put a como v6 in it for 1500, trailer it to the track have some fun crash it who gives a shit. skid it slide it whatever... you'll get over it after you spend 80% of your wages for 6 months. You'll realise drifting is for cashed up people with powerful turbo'd Japanese cars and not 18yr old wet weather warriors who think the can drift because they got mums falcon to over steer around a wet rounderbout when they went away. Have a pimp ke30 daily cruise around pick up chicks ???? profit. Quote
RA28GT Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I'm quite sure the Rollaclub forum offers a spell check. Use it. 1 Quote

Evan G Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Dunno, More than likely to find some pretty fresh ones in the cennalink carpark... i understand the concept of increased wheelspeed and limited traction being the goal. would souther cross stickers work aswell or will it damage the crucial 50/50 weight distribution?
