Spencer[RL] Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 (edited) Yes you can use 4k Cam in a 5k. Edited May 14, 2011 by Spencer Quote
snot35 Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Keep in mind that cams are designed for their associated lifter. If you have a 5K with hydraulic lifters then ideally you want a cam that is designed for hydraulic lifters. Most aftermarket cams are ground for 3K's or 4K's so are ground for solids. Quote
keto_82 Posted May 20, 2011 Author Report Posted May 20, 2011 thanks guys might just build a 4k :) Quote
snot35 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 If you have access to a 5K for a decent price then that's really the path you should take. Displacement is always the best way for more power, the rest are bolt on bits... Quote
coln72 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Nooooooooo!!!!!! A 5K will put a much bigger smile on your face. Just get the 5K cam reground to whatever specs you want. Just tell the engine builder or cam company what you want from your motor and they will find you the most suitable grind. Thats what I did and it worked a charm. No need to change to solids or any of that crap. From memory I was running a Wade grind, 169 was the code, I think. Quote
