Figjam14 Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Are they off of both deep and shallow dish 5K's there is a difference between the two, both in head and manifold. I have 2, how can i tell whats the difference? Quote
SLO-030 Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Deep dish piston/ Shallow dish head has Lugs under #1 and #4 spark plug tubes. Quote
GJM85 Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) I have compared shallow dish 5k & 4k-c against 3k-b. Guess who wins? Edited September 1, 2011 by GJM85 Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) 3k-B That's quite a big difference . Edited September 1, 2011 by Spencer Quote
GJM85 Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) 3k-B That's quite a big difference . WINNA!!! :y: Notice the reversed hotbox plate on the bottom of the early manifold. Edited September 1, 2011 by GJM85 Quote
Figjam14 Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 is the 3kb same as the bigport? starts off large then gets smaller? Quote
Evan G Posted September 7, 2011 Author Report Posted September 7, 2011 heads off to the machinist. his gonna check the guides/seats ill be putting a STUPID cam in this ( 3 - 7 grand ), valve springs have been organised. my machinist has honed the block and all thats left is for him to install the cam bearings. once this is done ill take the block and put the bottom end together, take it back there where the compression ratio will be measure. shave the head accordingly. then put the cam in. check the lifter preloads and she'll be good to assemble and paint. 10.5:1 + decent cam = silent reliable 7 grand shifts PLUS barp barp barp barp :D PICS intake manifoild opened up 3k bigport gasket on the 5k head. fit gasket and scribe how much needs to be taking off :P professional bungs made. soo much neater than factory POS items PM me if interested Quote
GJM85 Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) I can't understand how you could put so much love into something you could sell.... pimp! Edited September 7, 2011 by GJM85 Quote
SLO-030 Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Can people please note, that the pics GJM has posted are NOT 3K-B! 3K-B manifolds are the twin carb ones, and have a water jacket in the manifold itself with an extra bolt and water port in the flanges. Quote
GJM85 Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 It's off a 3k and it has big ports... :wtf: If there is another name for it then perhaps you can enlighten me. Quote
mhmills Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 It's off a 3k and it has big ports... :wtf: If there is another name for it then perhaps you can enlighten me. I think he's saying there's a difference between 3k-b and 3k-bp. I'm pretty sure that 3k-b was the one released with twin carbs. Quote
SLO-030 Posted September 8, 2011 Report Posted September 8, 2011 (edited) You've put up a 3K Bigport manifold. Which has a corresponding 3K Bigport head. Now, 3K-B is a twin downdraft carb motor. With a 3K-B manifold and again, corresponding 3K-B head. Difference is the twin carbs (obviously) and the fact the head and manifold have an extra bolt and a water port. For the water jacket in the 3K-B manifold. Edit: To my knowledge, there is no designation for a Bigport Head Edited September 8, 2011 by SLO-030 Quote
Evan G Posted September 11, 2011 Author Report Posted September 11, 2011 i got a mani from mr blindkidseeks. nfi whats it off. its got no brake booster vac line on it? I'm thinking early ke20? notice the bellmouth recess? port matched big port manifold to big port gasket (30mm) 5k manifold compaired to BP gasket (28mm) 3k stock mani to bp gasket (26mm) from the top. 3k big port/5k stock/3k stock what ryan is saying is 3k-b is below, has a watercooled hotbox, and a extra stud on the bottom left Quote
