Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Just wondering what clutch you guys use? (drift, circuit, sprint or hillclimb) I'm looking to replace mine with something heavy duty and after market. Was thinking the 3puck copper clutch from exedy through t3 for 350 and it comes with aligning tool etc etc. Just swinging the spanner of options haha. Cheers! Jesse. Quote
Des Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Standard Toyota ke70 clutch = 5,000rpm clutch dumps daily, Lasted a long time. Quote
BUZ440 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I use an exedy drift/drag clutch, no dramas is sticky when cold, clutch pedal is soft, and handles 300 plus hp quite well car is designed for hill climbs and sprints, but has not got there yet, haha Quote
Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 Anything and everything mate, it's a daily but I give her the right boot everyday. I don't mind a skiddy here and there either. :D Typical p plater, drift got me started on these cars.. Quote
greenmac80 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 well i have an exedy HD clutch in my 4efe ke30 and i love it... grabs well but is really easy to drive.. its hasn't slipped even with a limiter dump... 6200rpm. just think any harder you looking puk button etc... these all make the car harder to drive... would be great and fun at first but i reckon you'd get over it. Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 True true. But the t3 one is so cheap right now with our strong exchange rate!!! Quote
SLO-030 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I ran a Exedy Sports Tuff in my KE30. Loved it. Also ran a 4puk ceramic clutch in the KE38 for a while. Totally transforms the feel of the car. don't be too hard on them tho, because instead of slipping, 2nd gear is bound to strip :P And make sure you use a new cable or have a spare. The factory one started to stretch with the 4puk. Quote
Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2011 Author Report Posted May 4, 2011 Recommend the puk clutch slo?? I was just gonna go ahead and grab one off t3 but did some research first. Pretty keen. I wanna head around town and get a quote for one and see if the exedy stage 2 is worth the effort of air frieght from techno toy tuning. It is only 350 so.. Quote
7shades Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 You have a 4AC. Nothing... I repeat, NOTHING you do with that engine will make even a standard Exeedy slip. Quote
GJM85 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) You could blow a 4a-c. And you could blow another man. It's the same thing... I'm using an Exedy Sports Tuff. It has an organic clutch plate with a heavier than standard pressure plate. Google exedy. They have a variety for every application.... except 4a-c :rolls: (which is very nearly the same application a the 4age...) Edited May 4, 2011 by GJM85 Quote
SLW42 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Cushioned button FTMFW, cause then you get the best of both worlds :D , can still kick the shit out of it like a brassy, or slip it like an organic My 2c worth Quote
ke70dave Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) a 4ac?!?! just throw in a standard one, or an exedy HD. make sure you get it cheap though.... or....my mate just bought an exedy organic(?) 4 puk clutch disc (used his original pressure plate), this is on a 12a turbo rx7, and it wont slip with ~300hp being put through it. at first it was a pain to drive, but he got used to it. i think he paid under 160 for the clutch disc by itself, just got it through supercheap auto (had to give them the part number to order though) (edit, using a new clutch disc, on a used pressure plate without machining the flywheel goes against all the rules, but it works and it works well:P) ive driven on a 3 puck ceramic clutch before (with a chunky pressure plate)...holy dooly don't buy one of them, what a pain. LittleRedSpirit Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 You are wasting a lot of money by buying a clutch over from the states. Postage would be killer no matter how good the exchange is right now, fact is if you wanted to blow $350 on TTT stuff, theres a bunch of stuff you would have more use for than a puck clutch with a 4ac. Just buy an OEM Japanese made clutch kit, Exedy, whatever, it wont matter with 57KW at the flywheel. You don't have the power to slide on bitumen properly, or the diff, so why do you need a clutch that can do it in theory if the rest of the car cannot. So just stick with what you need. Itd be like painting a racing stripe on a tortoise. Look into some suspension bits, you will enjoy the benefits of them everytime you drive the car, unlike the clutch, that will shit you to tears once you realise that you wont be drifting anyhow but are stuck with a difficult clutch to drive.
