Hey guys, just a quick question.

I've been searching for a while for some widened steel rims and when i searched ebay it came up with 12" rims that were 7" wide which is basically what i want...

It may sound like a stupid question but would i be able to run this on my car?

Cheers Tom

Yes if the pcd was right but getting tyres that didn't look like a prolapsed rectum once fitted would be a killer.

Didnt think of weight or speed ratings etc.

They should clear the ke10 - ke20's range of brakes.

Offset should be ok if they are close to zero or -

Just see what kind of speed they are rated to, they should be fine but something you may want to have a look at.

Then finally get them re-drilled and fit up.

12's tyres aren't amazingly common so don't expect a wide range of choice or for them to handle any well.

If i could i would, but i can see a lot of members not taking a liking to the idea

I want to widen the set of 12's i have but tyres are hard to come by. Order in only as it is now.

I also looked into this exact thing.

205/30/12 tyres were on these rims and they look hawt, but they would have a rolling diameter so small it wouldn't work.

then i started stalking ride on lawn mowers, and you can get hugely wide twelve inch wheels and turf style tyres. only good for up to about 25 km/h though.

I still looked, but eventually gave up. I conceded that 13's are the way to go, kumho does a 245/50/13 comp tire that would be awesome on a 10/11 but you'd never break traction...

also there's silly widths in commercial van sizes like 225/50 R12.5 that's right, 12 and a half inches. stupid.

I have a pair of those, but they are more than twice as heavy as a stockie.

google atv 12 :.yahoo.jp in images, comes up with some good pics of quads.

if you do go ahead, i want to see pics...

Woah thats a lot of research thats awesome... Thats saved me alot of time... I have emailed a few people including rim manufactures and tyre companies to see if it is at all possible.

Ill keep you posted...

wrecked mowers will be a source for your wide bands, then have your stock centres put in them after.

i still haven't found an awesomely wide 12" legit street tyre though, will let you know if i do...

****disclaimer***** I can't guarantee that those tyres would be suitab;e for a corolla's weight.

they are mostly 4 ply tyres, might be worth checking the stock tyres to see roughly what load capacity and ratings they should have to be "safe"
